Notes

It's a new stable release of Construct 3! If you're updating from the last stable release r164.3, then this update includes changes from r165, r166, r167, r168, r169, r170 and r170.2.

Highlights include:

• A new Move To behavior. This can move an object to a position with acceleration, deceleration and a top speed. Search for Move to in the Start Page to see some examples of the behavior.

Three new Timeline examples to help you get started with the new Timelines feature. Search for Timeline in the Start Page to try them out.

Improved Android permissions ensuring your apps only require the minimum necessary permissions

• Experimental support for local file & folder saves from the browser - see the forum thread for more details

• Accessing some behaviors in the scripting feature - support for more behaviors will be added over time

• Lots more including a range of bug fixes, updates and optimisation!

We'll be starting a new beta release update cycle soon. If you'd like to help test it, try the beta release opt-in: choose Notify me about updates for beta releases in Settings. Stay tuned for more updates!

  • What's next for Construct 3?

I think i'm talking for a lot of customers when i say that it would be great to have some insights on what we can expect in near and/or far future.

Thanks a lot for the update.

  • I've been using Construct for a year now (just renewed). I absolutely love it. It's like it was made with me in mind. Thank you for working so hard on this engine!

  • Oh no, this release messed up my game. So many weird things happening.

I'll probably have to go back to using Beta releases, so it's easier to track where stuff is going wrong, sigh

  • I am having an amazing time ... loads of fun ... Thanks !!!

  • Its nice to see new methods on existing plugins. New "Move To" seems very useful as it reduces the number of events when you implement it by yourself.

    • "Move to" is particularely nice for tower defense games, as you only have to do the pathfinding once (or whenever you need it updated) and then simply use "move to" for everything.

  • I am very happy with the new features.

  • My game's corrupted and now unopenable. Please help me

Restore a recent backup - you should always keep backups! If you don't have one, you just learned the importance of backups, and you can send your project to ashleyjmg@scirra.com and I'll see if it can be recovered.

  • My game's corrupted and now unopenable. I have to recode a week's worth of work. Moreover, where's the local save options? Does this work offline, or NOT?

  • MoveTo is legendary useful.

  • Can you make a tool to write to a pre-existing SQL Database and pull data ?
