  • OK it solved itself. On the Arcade, the game skipped the first layout. But when I published the game, the Splash screen loaded normally! Odd, but it works now.

  • Hi,

Well I am using the wait x seconds because I want the objects to appear after another, and want some time in between their appearance so they don't appear all at the same time.

This seems to working properly.. though I still can't figure out why the game is loading the level and not the Splash screen first. Or do you think that's linked to the wait x seconds?

  • Hi, thanks for replying, here are the screenshots:

I'm pulling my hair out on this one!

  • In the project bar I set the order of the layouts so that the Splash layout is on top, then the level layout. I have also set in the properties window the Splash layout to be loaded first. I also exported the game (for Arcade) whilst on the Splash layout.

Yet, if I upload my game to the Arcade it just skips the Splash layout. As it if doesn't exist. The game requires you to press a key on the keyboard to go to the level layout so it's not like it's doing it automatically.

What else could I try to fix this?

P.S. The game is still unpublished on the Arcade.

  • If my subscription expires will the premium leaderboard continue to exist or will it revert to a free leaderboard or will all the free leaderboards disappear? How many free ones can I have?

I also noticed there is an outgoing link on the "Create leaderboard" page that probably doesn't exist; It says "View the differences between the types here." Where "here" is the outgoing link.

  • No worries, thanks for the quick fix!

  • Thanks for your quick reply.

I refreshed the page of the game but in the leaderboard area it now says:

    "leaderboardID is required parameter."

Is that also a bug or must I undertake action?

  • Hi!

I created a leaderboard a day ago, and I just followed the instructions from the manual to make the game submit a score.

I have two features in the game, you can save the high score manually (see attachment for the code) and it 'auto' submits a score if the player dies.

In the manual it says I need only play the game and reload the page after a score is submitted. Am I missing something?

    It's for my game: construct.net/en/free-online-games/lousy-bum-4780/play

  • Thanks. Though with the free leaderboard the highscores are removed after 14 days correct?

  • Thank you for your answer.

So the C2 leaderboard doesn't work anymore?

Also if I'm not mistaken you get one leaderboard for the C3 personal plan? And I would need a continuous C3 subscription if I want to keep the leaderboard 'active' for the game?

And if I wanted more leaderboards I would need to look at a Startup business plan or.. how to get more leaderboards?

  • Edit: Sorry I think I posted in the wrong forum.

    Hi all,

I uploaded a game many years ago and I'm so proud of all the plays that it got. I used to have a leaderboard when uploaded, but when the Arcade got a make over the leaderboard didn't work anymore.

    The game: construct.net/en/free-online-games/lousy-bum-4780/play

Now I plan to update the game with a leaderboard. I just read that is has all changed and I can use one leaderboard, unfortunately the highscores disappear after 2 weeks! What a shame!

I do not have an active subscription at the moment. I just want to add the the leaderboard to please the players.

Anyway. I only have a .capx of the game which I can open and modify in the C2 editor. Or, can I still update the game at all at this point? I wouldn't want to lose the statistics.

  • I definitely agree about the forums being better in terms of help. Though the search function in the forums could definitely be improved. Often I use Google to search the C3 forums. 😅

Just like you mentioned, the forums are an archive, and everything in Discord is basically temporary which seems like dang shame to me, because so much knowledge and help is being shared and given there.

Honestly I'm not much of a fan of Discord because the whole program looks like a circus with all the busyness, icons, flashing things, messages, different channels sounds etc. so it can be confusing.

Here, the forums are divided into topic with messages. Clear and simple. Discord is basically a chat program and when it's really busy on a channel, your message or question won't get any visibility.

Enough of my Discord rant though.

I suppose Reddit is also like a forum, except with the huge drawback that new replies in topics don't bump the topic. It will be buried forever, slowly but surely, regardless of the amount of replies it's getting.

So you basically get 'one chance' and you need to be lucky that someone will find your topic. I also don't like the new layout, I don't understand why they put so much white space around everything.

    Forums ftw.

  • Ah OK, well I don't know how hard it is to make it. But I can imagine people buy templates because they don't know how to start making an RTS.

So it would be extra difficult for a beginner to create something I described. It seems to me though, that being able to click on the enemy where your troops will stop at firing distance and attack, is a crucial element to have in the template.

I don't think it even needs to be an 'attack anything on the way' move, C&C1 and RA1 didn't have it either if I'm not mistaken!

Well, it's up to you of course, I'm just making a suggestion. :)

  • I noticed the forums aren't as popular as they used to be. I could be wrong but which channels are more popular these days to discuss anything C3? I know there's Reddit which doesn't seem to be any more popular than the forums. Or is everyone on Discord these days?

It could be that people are scattered over different channels of course. Sometimes I think C3 is becoming less popular, but I could be wrong.

  • I think what would make it complete is to add an attack move or cursor when you hover over the enemy. Have them stop when they see the enemy and start attacking from there.

Because right now you need to send them to a position first, only when they stop they start attacking which would put your the attacking troops at an disadvantage (if the hit points would be equal for both sides).

I do notice the last troop in the selection attacks from a proper distance, but the rest doesn't.

    Or did I miss something?
