Can I still use a leaderboard for a Construct 2 game on the Arcade?

Easy Leaderboard is a simple 3-column (position, name, score) leaderboard with a customizable appearance
  • Edit: Sorry I think I posted in the wrong forum.

    Hi all,

I uploaded a game many years ago and I'm so proud of all the plays that it got. I used to have a leaderboard when uploaded, but when the Arcade got a make over the leaderboard didn't work anymore.

    The game: construct.net/en/free-online-games/lousy-bum-4780/play

Now I plan to update the game with a leaderboard. I just read that is has all changed and I can use one leaderboard, unfortunately the highscores disappear after 2 weeks! What a shame!

I do not have an active subscription at the moment. I just want to add the the leaderboard to please the players.

Anyway. I only have a .capx of the game which I can open and modify in the C2 editor. Or, can I still update the game at all at this point? I wouldn't want to lose the statistics.

  • Construct 2 was retired in 2021. Since then we've implemented a new leaderboard system for the Arcade using the Construct Game Services plugin. That's only available with Construct 3 though, so you'll need to import your project to Construct 3 and export it there to be able to make use of leaderboards.

  • Thank you for your answer.

So the C2 leaderboard doesn't work anymore?

Also if I'm not mistaken you get one leaderboard for the C3 personal plan? And I would need a continuous C3 subscription if I want to keep the leaderboard 'active' for the game?

And if I wanted more leaderboards I would need to look at a Startup business plan or.. how to get more leaderboards?

  • There is no longer any supported way to submit a score from Construct 2. In Construct 3, leaderboards on the Construct Arcade are free. If you want leaderboards that work across all platforms, then that is subject to limitations and subscription.

  • Thanks. Though with the free leaderboard the highscores are removed after 14 days correct?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Yes, the free tier leaderboards are feature complete for the most part but meant for testing/developing so scores are automatically removed after ~14 days.

Edit: For clarity, scores in the arcade are never deleted (unless the user deletes their account).
