  • Hey, can you verify this is fixed in r52?

  • I'm still investigating the project loss issue (hope you're keeping backups for now!), but can you check r52 to verify the animation issue is fixed?

  • Hey, can you try the new r52 and verify this is fixed?

  • r52 just got released, can you verify it's fixed?

  • Sorry, I don't think we can do this - we kind of decided a price then decided to throw the assets in as a bonus on top, so I don't think they really are increasing the price at all. Besides, IMO the price is fairly cheap anyway (at least by the standards of the UK economy).

  • Ah, got it. Should be fixed in next build.

  • Can you post a.capx with an animation that does this? The code for preview is very simple and it bases the window size on the size of the largest animation frame, so I'm not sure what would have gone wrong.

and play/repeat button would be nice addition ;)

Click inside the window to repeat!

  • To be honest I don't actually see much efficiency advantage over using sprite sheets. C2 can PNGCrush files to absolutely minimise the PNG filesize, and modern graphics cards can use non-power-of-two textures so split frames don't use more VRAM than a single sprite sheet, as well as being able to render 2D things so fast that there's nothing to be gained by rendering from one texture instead of many. So what other efficiency gains are you looking for by using sprite sheets?

  • We're working on something for the help section soon! Just not enough time to have it all done already, sorry!

  • CC needs the DirectX August 2008 update and Visual Studio 2005 C++ redist, both run by the installer during setup. You can find their setups in the install directory once setup is done, in case you want to try taking them somewhere else, but you'll need admin rights to run them.

  • Do you have that 'ATI Catalyst Control Center' application some drivers install for you? Not sure if that's related, but if it's there it might have some settings buried in it that affect it.

I've run polls along these lines before, but this time I just want to ask generally as an open question. What is the most important thing you think Construct 2 should get next? Obviously we have a lot of features and things to do in the long run, but we can't do them all at once. So what is the one you miss most or think is most crucial?

If you've used Classic, which features are most painful to get by without? If you've used a different tool before, what do you miss most?

My own personal todo list is looking a bit like this at the moment:

    • Hotspot & image points for sprites
    • Collision polygons so collisions are a bit better than bounding-box
    • Families (will take a long time)
    • Physics (not sure if Zack0Wack0 was working on this?)
    • Support for the Chrome or Mozilla web app stores - it looks like you can even charge for web apps, so see if that's something that can be added.
    • Improved audio engine using Web Audio API (which currently only Chrome supports I think)
    • Good support for tilemaps

Let me know what you think is the most important, and I'll get to work on it - I'm trying to get things done in order of importance! If there's disagreement I'll run a poll, consider this a sort of nominations stage.

  • You should be careful not to write it like an advert, Wikipedians don't like that.

Fanboys from other tools do occasionally come along and junk up articles like this, but what can you do? Just edit it back.
