  • 'Wait' does *not* pause the rest of the events. Most people get caught out by this. In your case if the event is true every tick, it will schedule a new 'Wait' every tick, so after 1 second it adds to the variable every tick (~60 times a second).

You probably want to use the 'Every X seconds' condition instead.

  • part12studios - there's a built in Windows 8 object which you access all the platform-specific features like IAP through. Like I say hopefully we'll be documenting this in more detail soon!

  • Nothing's changed about how C2 handles saves recently. You should keep large files like videos outside the project folder to prevent them being backed up.

  • We genuinely didn't have any plans when we tweeted that a week ago. We pretty much arranged this today only, to coincide with a last-minute Steam sale that is also happening. We also have to draw the line somewhere - even if we announced sales in advance, people who bought just before the announcement would be disappointed. Don't forget 95%+ of everyone who's ever bought C2 also paid the same price as you.

  • It probably makes no difference at all, since whether you save 4000 bytes or 400 bytes in a game which likely uses 10mb+ of other images will simply have no effect. 32x32 is also easy to see in the image editor (it doesn't disappear to a tiny dot) and tiny images just a few pixels across can sometimes have extreme linear filtering artefacts at the edges which make them seem really blurry. So it's not very important, but it might be a bit more convenient.

  • Safari for iOS does hardware-accelerate the canvas, but it still benchmarks slower than CocoonJS IIRC, so it will probably preview slower than CocoonJS will really run. The Android stock browser is terrible, but Chrome for Android should work similarly to Safari iOS (a little slower than CocoonJS). It's fairly easy to try out quickly with the CocoonJS launcher, but it's not as quick and easy as using preview-over-LAN.

  • Construct 2 does take the entire project folder wholesale. What kind of large files do you have in the project?

  • We support IAP and ads on CocoonJS (we're missing a bit of documentation covering it, but we're working on it), and IAP on Windows 8. You can add adverts to most games by editing the HTML after export, and we should be adding a built-in feature to make that easier at some point too.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Closing, if you have any trouble with your license please email us at licensehelpneb@scirra.com. The tutorial how Construct 2 licenses work should provide additional information on top of the instructions on the purchases page.

  • Just make a 32x32 sprite and stretch it really big. The image data will be negligable (4096 bytes decompressed).

  • It's a good idea. I'll add it to the infamous todo list.

  • I already applied for the web framework but haven't heard anything back. I applied again, let's hope they respond this time!

  • Closing this thread, it's turning in to a bit of a fiasco. We won't support a stretching fullscreen mode and you shouldn't try to make one either.

  • Browsers are moving quickly, with 6 week updates from Firefox and Chrome. Keeping up with these releases if you have a browser on another platform, e.g. the 3DS, is difficult and time consuming work. That makes it expensive, so unless there is a strong motivation to make the browser excellent, they probably won't bother updating the browser. I guess not many people actually browse the web on console devices like that, so they don't have the motivation to keep it up to date. I think they just want to say "...and you can browse the web!" and be done with it... never mind if it is so old it's riddled with compatibility problems!

  • Some video games use different kinds of scaling, and I would be prepared to look in to supporting alternative scale modes, but I've never seen a professional game stretch the screen out of the aspect ratio it was originally rendered at.
