  • Ah, I thought we were done with the whole power of two restriction years ago, but it turns out WebGL has some unusual limitations with tiled non-power-of-two textures. I guess it's because it has to work on mobiles which don't have graphics cards with the same features as desktops.

There is a workaround, which is to stretch the texture to a power-of-two size, but it can make it look a little blurry. It's all that I can do I think though.

  • Browsers blacklist bad hardware and drivers that don't work, but I guess the blacklists are not perfect and you have an unsupported setup. If you disable WebGL it should work fine with the 2D renderer, but what's your hardware? Are you sure you have the very latest drivers? If it's a crappy old integrated intel graphics chip I won't be surprised, but most recent offerings from ATI and nVidia should be fine...

  • It takes a second to update to the new framerate, since it only updates the framerate once a second. I just tried it and it said 1fps, then 60fps. This is the correct behavior. Were you seeing something else?

  • You can mass-import animations by dragging and dropping multiple images to the layout, or right-clicking the frames pane in the animation editor and importing either batches of files or sprite sheets in grids. Does that do what you need?

  • Ah, you're right, auto-mirror and auto-flip don't work in WebGL. Will fix for next build.

  • I suppose even if we set WebGL as a default, if you can still turn it off then you have the option of using the old Canvas 2D renderer with layered text. It comes at a high price though, you lose a lot of performance, so I think it's best just to consider designing your games so text is always on top.

  • All expressions are listed in the floating Expressions panel when you type in an expression! This new tutorial may also help you.

We're still working on our manual - hopefully it'll be done by the end of the year.

  • The Touch object has expressions to access the accelerometer!

  • I forgot to mention, you can code your own javascript in the plugin and behavior SDK, but it's not really suitable for casual coding, more for integrating APIs and creating new features.

If you're interested in how it works under the hood, you can still browse the javascript code behind the plugins and behaviors, they're all in the folder rexrainbow mentioned.

  • modkva, XAudio2 is only in Construct Classic, not Construct 2, are you sure you posted in the right forum?

  • Oh, do you mean the collision polygon? Sorry, there isn't a way to type in its size yet. Also, we're aware undo isn't working for everything in the image editor, it's on our todo list.

  • If you mean the game data size - it's almost entirely object images. Sound also takes up a lot, but sound is streamed as you play the game so does not contribute to the loading time. 99% of the loading time is spend downloading images (Sprite animation frames and tiled background images). Everything else uses some data too, but it's so tiny in comparison you can ignore it (e.g. an event turns in to just a few bytes of javascript).

Construct 2 estimates your game's size - it's in the status bar as "Approx size". It's basically the size of all your images plus audio, so it's larger than the amount needed to start the game (which is just images), but it's a useful indicator.
