  • We hope to remedy points #1 and #2 in future with some extra features. We have a long todo list though!

As for the point about being able to make "real" games - they certainly have been made in Classic, and we're aiming to make Construct 2 even better for big games. I would argue this point further, but I think an even better thing to do is for us to spend the next year or so continuing down the long list of features we have planned to make "real" games easy to make in Construct 2, wait for some people to make "real" games, then link you to those games as a counter-argument. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I think it is very likely this problem is to do with your graphics card drivers. Have you tried updating your graphics card drivers?

It looks like the driver is incorrectly cutting the image in to a power-of-two size. The object is 192x192 but it's only showing about 128x128 of it (a power-of-two size). The only reason this would happen is if your graphics card drivers are buggy!

  • Does this happen every time in your .capx file? Were you doing anything in the Configurations bar before this happened? It's handy to have reproduction steps, which was described in that 'how to report bugs' link.

  • Yes, this is an important part of how sub-events work. From your example:

Enemy var = 1 - all enemies with var = 1 are picked

    ---- Enemy X > 500 - of these it's further filtered down

    ---- >> Do this

For the next subevent it returns to all enemies with var = 1 picked

    ---- Enemy X < 500 - of these it's further filtered down again

    ---- >> Do that

  • marcinkowski, for a platformer you don't need separate animations for facing right and left - you should be able to use the 'set mirrored' action to automatically flip the images!

  • The easiest thing to do is switch to Google Chrome which is faster, has better features and is more regularly updated than IE9, and even works on Windows XP. You don't have to use it for your day to day browsing either - you can just set 'Preview browser' to 'Chrome' in project properties to use it instead of IE.

  • As everyone says big games mean lost plays from the many people on slow connections (don't assume everyone has super fast broadband).

However, if you're wondering simply about single file vs. folder, when saving and loading Construct 2 shows "Compressing CAPX" or "Decompressing CAPX" in the status bar when it's packing or unpacking the .capx. If that appears for a few seconds every time you hit save, try saving to a project folder - since it skips that step saves should be a lot faster.

  • Yeah, we're working on the manual at the moment, it was in our Winter roadmap a while back. Shouldn't be too much longer!

  • Oh, I thought you were talking about the Beginner's Guide Ghost Shooter tutorial. Maybe you should have a look at that - it's much simpler! The demos are provided as advanced examples to show off what Construct 2 can do. It doesn't have to be that complicated.

  • I don't remember there being any trigonometry, or complicated formulae at all in fact, in the Ghost Shooter tutorial - where are you stuck?
