  • To prevent animations making the window shake (and other reasons) it's usually best to have an invisible square sprite with no animations which you give the Platform movement to. Then you position your visible, animated player on top of that. This usually makes the game much more reliable.

  • The next build (r70) always creates global arrays on the start of the project rather than leaving it until you visit its layout. Hopefully that will also fix it.

  • Yeah, there's no reason not to have this, it's on our todo list, we're just super busy and it takes time to get round to this type of thing, and if it's not urgent (i.e. there's a really easy workaround, which there is) then we usually make it a lower priority.

  • Remember a lot of people are still on slow connections, and a lot of people are simply not going to wait for a 50mb game to download! In a way a low file size limit is a good thing, since it means less waiting time for everyone visiting the arcade.

  • It's actually perfectly possible to use FB credits/Chrome Web Store payments/whatever in Construct 2 already, as you say you just need to follow each site's developer instructions to integrate it with the server side scripts (which is the only secure way to do it), then make a custom plugin with the SDK to talk to the server and see what's been purchased. Obviously if this was integrated with the built-in plugins it would be a bit easier, but if you're going as far as setting up the server-side scripts then using the SDK isn't that big a hurdle either. Plus on top of that your own plugin means you can add your own security system and custom functionality, which means it's probably harder to hack than having a one-size-fits-all official plugin.

    So I think there are people sitting around waiting for us to do something to enable IAP, which actually just means us making some tweaks to plugins that makes it marginally easier. If you're desperate for IAP there's nothing stopping you going for it now, but I guess you'd be the first.

    We're keenly aware of people's desire to monetise their games - we're hoping to do something about it soon. It's just we're really, really busy.

  • The error is pretty much right, we aim to fix this soon but in the mean time just make sure there's an instance of the object you're trying to create already placed in the layout.

  • Send me your .capx and I can recover it, can you remember what you did immediately before this happened?

  • This is most likely due to a third party plugin or behavior you're using. It's probably broken and you need to ask the author of the plugin or behavior to fix it. The only way to tell which is to back up the project then delete third party plugins and behaviors from your project one by one and see which is responsible.

    In the meantime you can probably work around by simply disabling 'minify script' on export.

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • There's not currently a way to do that directly, but the workaround is simple - just use conditions:

    + Sprite Y > 10

    -> Set boolean to true

    + Sprite Y <= 10

    -> Set boolean to false

  • Old or weak graphics cards have a limit on the maximum size of the texture you can use. This is a bigger problem on mobiles which tend to have more limited GPUs.

    I would say 4096x4096 is the absolute largest you should even consider, and that's probably already beyond what some mobiles can manage. To be on the safe side I would advise cutting everything up in to 1024x1024 max tiles.

  • Please see how to report bugs. Can you share your .capx file?

  • That file returned a 404 error, can you make sure it's in a Public folder?

  • In the code it appears to be intentional - if an object is invisible it doesn't count as on-screen because, well, it's not on the screen.

    I've removed that check for the next build, it will count as on-screen even if invisible.
