  • Have you set a backup folder to a network drive or folder that is no longer accessible? C2 might be trying to access the backup location but if it's unavailable it might get stuck.

  • Good catch, forgot about that action. Fixed in next build, will close the Awesomium application.

  • I found a crash which only happened when certain image editor tools were selected. It should be fixed in the next build. I also fixed the issue with the animation frames pane going behind the main window, I didn't realise anyone used it overlapping like that.

  • The user must click inside the game before it will get keyboard input. Then, in addition to that, you need the empty 'On key pressed' events. AFAIK this is working for a number of games on the Arcade - if it's not working for you could you share your .capx?

  • Can you share your .capx? Are you using the latest version of Construct 2? We fixed a bug related to touch co-ordinates a few releases ago.

  • The Chrome Web Store has introduced much tighter security restrictions, which breaks exported C2 games. I've adapted the export to fit the new restrictions, and I've successfully submitted a working game to the Chrome Web Store. So hopefully this is all fixed in the next build.

  • makedit - if you are trying to maximise performance, you should enable WebGL. It's over twice as fast in Chrome and Firefox. Why have you disabled it?

It is very difficult for us to do anything about your performance issue unless you share a .capx which runs fast in r84 and slow in r100. We generally make small performance improvements in updates, so it would be unusual if it is suddenly a lot slower. I can't see anything in the r85 changelog that indicates any serious changes were made regarding performance either, so I wouldn't know where to start without your .capx.

Opera 12 still does not have hardware acceleration on by default nor WebGL support, so it is very difficult to get good framerates with it. If you are interested in optimising for software rendering, try enabling 'Pixel rounding' in project properties and setting 'Sampling' to 'Point', which can help a little. Generally we optimise for Firefox and Chrome since these browsers have high quality hardware acceleration and the largest market share. IE does not support WebGL but still performs relatively well in our benchmarks - far better than Safari and Opera, at least. We are highly focused on making a stable and high performance engine, but a lot of the work depends on the browser makers, and in my opinion Opera and Safari are falling behind other browsers in this regard.

  • If you read the r100 changelog there is a known performance issue with Awesomium. We cannot do anything to fix it - Awesomium have to make changes to fix it. However please get in touch with them and let them know you'd like it fixed, since the more people who contact them, the more they are likely to prioritise it.

Very fast machines (like my dev machine) can actually run EXEs faster than in the Chrome browser. Hopefully once Awesomium fix the performance problem, it will always be faster for everyone else too.

  • This keeps getting reported. It's not a bug, just a weird shortcut to close C2. It will prompt you to save changes just as if you clicked the X. Closing!

  • You can access the query string with the Browser object.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • VMs either have no GPU support at all, or AFAIK their GPU support is pretty buggy, like having really bad drivers. So I would assume it's that, unless you can get any crashes on a non-virtual OS... and even then, I would still say it's a driver bug :P

It's a real shame how cool GPU technology is, but how crappy drivers and support make it hard for everyone to use it. Anyway, I'm going to close this report for now.

  • Use the 'Play (by name)' action in the Audio object and use an expression like this:

    choose("sound1", "sound2", "sound3")

choose() picks one of the parameters at random, so it will pick a random sound to play.

  • It's probably a driver bug. What graphics card do you have?

  • Construct uses whatever you've set in the 'Version' field in project properties. Presumably you have entered 1.02 there. So you need to change that to fit the Chrome Web Store's requirements.
