  • I doubt I'll be playing mvc3 much anymore, unless my kids want to play with me. mk is my fighter now. the combo system is so satisfying, and like I said before - the gameplay, and the way it combines with the sound and graphics gives such a visceral feel.

seriously, I give the demo a 10 out of. I haven't been this giddy about a fighting game since killer instinct came out back in '94. I can't stress enough how good this game is.

It is a must play game.

  • anyone play the mortal kombat demo yet?

I was a big fan at mk2, mk3 slightly less so, but after that, I didn't really play any of them, and they all seemed crappy. Got playstation plus to download this demo, and I have to say Mortal Kombat is back.

It's dark, brutal, and very visceral. The combo system is sophisticated, and the whole thing plays really solid. Presentation is top notch, too. Great sound, graphics, animation, and the xrays and fatalities look great.

4 characters in the demo, and already my favorite fighting game of this generation.

  • post the cap file, or a screenshot of your event sheet and a paste of your python

it could be any number of problems.

here's some questions which would be helpful in troubleshooting if you decide not post it

what is 'File "gmdat" does not exist' , and what does it have to do with what follows

is the function that makes the message box appear made with events then?, and the function object? is it called from events

is it python that calls it?

make sure your python is in events, if you don't want it to run every tick, one time things like defining python functions, etc should be done in start of layout.

The function object and python functions of course let you run them once, or any time they are called. There is another error somewhere.

before we figure out why python won't respond to the [1] text object, lets try to get rid of the nonstop creation of text objects.

  • hey ash, I still think it'd make a huge difference, psychologically, that you called the first complete version 2.0, and set benchmarks for what you would call 3.0, 4.0 etc. Make them legitimate goals, but don't have set time limits. it's not like photoshop is a totally different program each time they increment.

It would be the exact same business model, except it could be phrased much more attractively:

When you purchase Construct 2, you get two years of free upgrades, so you're future proofed if Construct 3 rolls around during that time, you won't have to repurchase. Even better : new features of Construct 3, such as Android Export and iPhone export, and Directx11 and Stereoscopic 3d support for the windows runtime, will be released as they are completed, so you don't have to wait for a future release date to start using them. Any updates you have received in this way during those 2 years you get to keep, even if you don't purchase the next version.

  • post the cap

  • the images aren't showing up for me. maybe dropbox is temporarily down?

  • if you want to set or alter each variable:

loop from 0 to the number of variables you have

when setting a variable or adding/subtracting from it, right click where you select the name of the variable and click "use expression", and type 'loopindex' (without the quotes)

I can't think of a way off the top of my head to use the values

    like

sprite(loopindex) or anything like that won't work

maybe with python there's a way

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • For example. You could synchronize the X and Y velocities of a platform and physics behavior, and then modify the platform movement to not be able to directly affect player movement, but do it through the physics object. But that's just me talking....

*Example 2: someone wanted a platform game where some platform characters would ghost through certain platforms and others wouldn't.

I've submitted code to the svn that makes these two things possible

if it gets into the next version, physics will take nonphysics movement into account in a stable, predictable way,

and platform movement will have an option to ignore certain object types temporarily or permanently, on a per platform movement object basis.

  • I think I may have a fix.

I've tested it a bit, but one or two extra testers won't hurt

if this works for you guys I'll submit it to the svn
