While I agree that everyone hates jank, couldn't reproduce any of that myself on a really low-end LG Android phone. Would appreciate any data showing that noticeable jank is actually happening.

Earlier this year we had to increase a timeout in Cordova because some Android devices couldn't load index.html within eight seconds. The worst devices are much, much worse than you probably imagine.

My main point still stands. The new plugin is too over-complicated because it's performing everything asynchronously.

It's similar to AJAX, which most people seem to deal with OK. Besides using a Dictionary which is saved/loaded as a whole is straightforward to do in events too.

  • Your terminology is mixed up, this doesn't sound like it's got anything to do with pull requests...

Check the AJAX manual entry and see the section on cross-domain requests.

  • Since it's been deprecated in Construct, no new projects since 2015 have been able to use it. So there isn't really any option to keep using it (intentionally).

I'm not sure if/when the feature will be really removed, but the main hurdle is probably the backwards compatibility of existing sites that still use it. I'm sure it'd be gone already if browsers didn't have to worry about that.

  • If this is accurate, I think it is really sad news. There are only four major browser engines left. If they give up development and switch to Chromium, it will be a significant step towards monoculture, which in the long term is bad (see: IE6).

It's not been officially announced yet, so the article could have misinterpreted rumours about replacing UWP apps with something like Electron/NW.js, or creating a secondary browser (like the Chromium-based Firefox Focus, which doesn't replace the real Firefox browser), or helping Google port Chromium to Windows on ARM, or something else involving Microsoft + Chromium which doesn't replace Edge. I hope it turns out to be something like that - modern Edge is a good browser.

  • WebStorage was deprecated in 2015, over 3 years ago. You're a bit late to the party!

  • Please file a bug, it should still work even when the script is minified.

  • Why? It only exists for you to reach the Addon Manager. You shouldn't be spending any significant amount of time in safe mode.

  • Send your project to ashleyffy@scirra.com and I'll see if we can improve the spritesheeting packing algorithm to save memory.

  • See tips for this forum. It's not clear what you mean by "change how a sprite spawn objects".

  • Newly created objects copy properties from an arbitrary instance. It's not something you should rely on; whatever ordering the runtime uses, it could change by accident as you edit the project. So if you want to make sure a newly created object gets specific properties after creation, set those properties with actions after creating it.

  • It was moved to the Platform Info object.

  • This is a Construct 2 thread; at this point no new features will be added to C2. Please post any suggestions for C3 to https://construct3.ideas.aha.io/.
