  • I don't know about this, there's tonnes of specialist todo list/project management/calendar software already out there and working great. If we start adding features along those lines I think people will inevitably suggest "oh, if you could just add this..." and "this software does that which would be really cool..." and then before we know it we're re-writing Microsoft Project 2010. We're pushed for time and resources as it is, and plenty of other software exists for this kind of purpose, so why not use them?

  • I'm going to close this thread: while it's cool that people want to share sprites and things, and that's a genuinely useful thing, I don't think a forum thread is the right format.

I'm imagining a thread with 50+ pages with artwork scattered all the way through it with plenty of "oh that's cool" posts in between. That's not really a practical way to do it.

Perhaps you could set up some kind of public file share or a separate website?

  • Hi all,

Just a quick update about feature requests. This thread is from August 2010, which was about 6 months before the very first public preview of Construct 2 (which would look very limited by the standard of C2 today). So a lot of the content of this thread is very old ideas which have largely been implemented.

Secondly, right now my todo list really is actually too long to consider "big" ideas like an OpenGL exporter or new kinds of editors. Little ideas like proportional resize is something I can do quickly so I'm happy to sort those out. However, anything more than that is going to end up being queued at least a few months away, by which time I've probably forgotten or got some other "big idea" project to work on. Also, a lot of the ideas in this thread are either already possible, or are already on my todo list.

So I'm going to close this thread because it's served its purpose really. I have tonnes of cool ideas to work through as it is! If you have little suggestions like proportional resize, feel free to make a post in this forum. However, I'm afraid I'm going to have to close my ears to larger suggestions for the time being. I'll be making a new thread in future when we're ready for new ideas!

  • Hi all,

Great news today! Google Chrome 15 has been released, and by the looks of things it has a hardware accelerated canvas. This means it uses your graphics card to draw the games, which makes them run super fast - a smooth 60 fps even in fullscreen.

This means the "big three" browsers all have hardware acceleration and should all have excellent performance now: IE9+, Firefox 7+ and Chrome 15+. Chrome always updates to the latest version so within a couple of weeks that should be another 20% of the web using hardware acceleration.

By my reckoning that will make 50% of all web surfers with super fast HTML5 enabled browsers. It's only a matter of time before it's everyone :)

  • HTML5 is the plan for now, but we hope to expand in future. Our latest blog post covers this.

  • Sorry, if you didn't save regularly and keep backups, there's nothing that can be done :( Construct 2 is beta software, please make sure you save regularly and back up!

We can't do anything without a full bug report either, please see how to report bugs.

  • No, it's only if there's the third-party Rotate behavior in one of the objects in your project. (Unless something else has gone wrong.)

  • Are you sure you removed all of them? The old rotate behavior is the only thing that causes that.

  • The best thing to do is to make your own plugin with the SDK at the moment - you can't call between Construct 2's runtime and the page any other way right now.

  • Can you post the broken .capx file that doesn't work? Audio is working OK here.

  • You do not have permission to view this post

  • Does 'hopefully' mean it is a difficult problem or that it is not very important?

It means I haven't properly investigated this bug report yet - physics integration with the rest of Construct 2's features is tricky. For example Physics objects naturally want to rotate around their center of mass, but if the origin is off-center, Construct 2 wants to rotate it around its origin. That conflict obviously isn't being properly resolved. I'm really busy at the moment so I'm sorry I can't give you a better answer but it's best to give bug reports a week or two to get properly investigated, and when I do that I'll give the full details on what will be done.
