  • A related problem was fixed in a recent build, are you sure you're on the latest version of Construct 2? (r72)

  • Try Construct 3

  • Use a single square invisible sprite with no animations for the platform behavior, and position your animated player on top of the invisible sprite. If you don't do that and use the platform behavior directly on your sprite, one of the side effects is a really shakey game.

  • We won't for two reasons:

    • we have too much to do to be able to take on new ideas right now, and
    • people constantly re-suggest things already on the todo list, which is a waste of time and effort.
  • External port scanners are probably useless, because very few ports are exposed to the internet, but many more can be used locally for testing, which is what Construct 2 uses.

  • This is handled by our UI library, so I don't think we have that much control over it, sorry...

  • What do you mean by the 'quick tab'?

  • Have you tried encoding chiptunes to OGG and AAC? If the audio contains mainly simple tones and synthesised sounds they should compress very well with traditional formats. Or do you mean something dynamically generated?

  • I work hard to make sure projects never break with upgrades. In the past I've added features which changed the project format, but wrote in extra code to convert the old format to the new one, so nobody noticed. It's happened a few times now <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

On rare occasions features have to change. I'm always reluctant to do this but sometimes it means the software is better and easier to use, and IMO this is always good in the long term so we don't all get stuck with old crap features that never get upgraded "for backwards compatibility". The only recent example is r69 changed the auto-mirror feature. This meant everyone had to tweak their projects, but it wasn't much work - only a couple of actions, and it means the feature is now more flexible too. However, like I say this is done rarely and I'm aware it's annoying if it happens too much so it's avoided if at all possible.

So I wouldn't worry, just keep an eye on the changelogs for anything that affects you. Don't forget you can always install old releases of Construct 2, and if you regularly back up your project (which you always should) even if somehow the project is corrupted you've got your backup.

  • Oh, are you still on Firefox 3.6?

  • That warning isn't important and probably not relevant - are you sure there are no other errors?

  • Hi all,

I'm experimenting further with some advanced PNG compression techniques for the next build.

I need some large projects to play with though - ideally with over 100 images - and in both retro (pixelly graphics) and modern style. If all goes to plan, I should be able to get significant size savings on retro games! Possibly up to a 50% file size saving, which would be amazing.

If you have a project that would be suitable, I would much appreciate if you could send it to ashley@scirra.com. Obviously I will keep them private and not share them with anyone!

    Thanks!
