  • 'Set color' does this, but like other shaders requires WebGL. It's best to just do this in an external image editor and switch the animation frame rather than use the shader, if you don't need to dynamically alter it - that way doesn't require WebGL and renders faster too.

  • Last I heard about smart TVs, the typical hardware was weaker than an iPhone and had no GPU, which means you get software rendering and hardware acceleration is impossible. You'd have been lucky to get 10 FPS. I guess this is slowly changing, but I think the best thing to do is have someone try this out themselves, and report back if it works well or not. I suppose you need the right TV and such as well.

  • This is a very common type of question, and we've answered it in detail with our blog post Optimisation: don't waste your time.

  • AddVariadicParams is currently a hack specifically designed for the built-in Function object, and has a bunch of fairly obscure limitations that the Function object does not happen to run in to. I wouldn't recommend using it if possible for the time being - what are you hoping to use it for?

  • DravenX - it's difficult to do anything about the problem without steps to reliably reproduce it. Can you provide these?

  • Closing as not a bug.

  • Can you share your .capx? Also, are you using the 'export to appmobi' option when exporting? The other options won't work for appMobi.

  • Construct 2 can save different versions of your project automatically; you shouldn't need to do this. See Keep your work safe with Construct 2's backup options.

I think you are confused by the two save-as options - if you want to save a manual backup or a specific verison of your project, just use 'save as single file'. Regardless of whether you have a .capx or a folder project, this will save it to a single file wherever you choose, which sounds like exactly what you want. However using a real version control system like SVN or Git is far superior to doing it by hand like that.

  • 1) This is on the todo list!

    2) No new features are necessary for this, just put your object logic in a subevent like 'Is on screen', and all its logic will stop running when it goes offscreen

    3) Sounds like something best suited to a third party plugin - I think you can already get by fine with the built-in objects for this, but a third party plugin could help make this specific case a little easier.

  • It is generally the case that instances are run in IID order, but not always - using families will mean the instance order is a mish mash of different object types, and I can't think off the top of my head how that is handled. Still, I wouldn't rely on this behavior at all, because it could change in future engine updates.

To be honest, it's a very unusual question. Why would the order the instances are run in be important? If you have two separate events, as far as each instance is concerned they are affected in the order of the events, even if the engine ran the instances in a random order. It's actually quite difficult to make an event where the order instances are run affects anything. Why are you asking and are you sure your events have this requirement? You might be mistaken, and in fact the order instances are run in does not affect your events at all, even if you think it does.

  • I can't reproduce this, they appear fine here on Windows 8. Can you provide any more information about your system and whether this occurs on any other computers you have access to?

  • We won't fix this - it relates to the breaking change a while ago that created instances don't really exist until the next top-level event. So the IIDs won't be correct until then either. Like Yann says just use the count minus one if that's what you really want; you shouldn't really rely on any particular order of IIDs anyway, it could change again in future engine updates.
