  • Thanks man :>

  • The game yeah has a happy ending I suppose:) glad you like it!

  • Quests galore but Hands off the merchandise

The game has entered a phase where it requires fluff, fluff that links things and makes sense, just like me right now.

I am thus pouring softener out of my pores and it is overflowing just to be poured back in again. Such is the vicious circle of the wicked.

    Quests = Adventures

Adventures, or that's how they are called in Black Bobby The Hole. It's not just a simple check list you must grind through. It's not a task bestowed upon you by the evil dark flaming taskmaster. No. It's an adventure.

A grand adventure of highly risky proportions. So risky that your playing device might crash because it cannot handle the awesome.

The Adventures need eventually a narrator. Someone to pass along heroic deeds for generations to come. And this is where I come in.

I write them, I design them, I sweat and cry for them. And the man tears now bubble in the softener like tiny rain drops sent to flourish the dry wrinkly soil.

A peek of Bobby's identity crisis can be seen here, as I reveal for you my dearest, the story behind an Adventure named "Hands off the merchandise".

    Hands off the merchandise

Despite the lack of limbs, Bobby did find and embraced love, a long, long time ago.

He hugged love so much that love became a part of him, infinitely stuck to the dark fuzzy matter within. Inhaled her as a breath of air after a perilous dive in the ocean. Ocean which was embraced by Bobby and now is gone too, by the way, just like love.

After love was gone, Bobby became sad for he did not understand. Nevertheless he eventually found another love. But this love was different as she had no limbs either, just like Bobby. The poor little black jolly hole was so excited he finally found someone alike.

When Bobby explained how they made the perfect couple, love got sad and broke up with him. Heartbroken, Bobby asked of the reason. Was it his symmetric face? His inability to pat her on the head?

"Too many bad memories, Bobby. Too many..."

On the edge of the galaxy she shared her misery before departing. Her limbs were lost, because of the things stolen. Righteous entities cut them off: "Thieves are not welcomed here, love!" they said.

    She stole things...like love.

If you like this style of writing and want to give me a hand or an elbow, go on Greenlight bless your soul and give me a vote. I'm not picky! I don't ask for a specific vote . You will be pleasantly surprised that I am consistent in my writing and in the making of the astronomical trailer.

  • DevLog #2

Black Bobby The Hole is an arcade game with modern cartoony graphics in which Bobby, the black hole, must defend his home and solve the mystery of the cursing entity.

Right now there is one type, and that is an extremely fast movement towards the mouse cursor. The main reason behind this is that the control should never hinder people. When that happens, it's a problem.

As the project advances if there will be a demand I will implement a slower, more smooth movement towards the cursor, perhaps controller support as well.

And then we have the abilities which can be activated with keybinds.

A quick reminder about the first DevLog entry of this project: I saw a game, I liked it, made one of my own and started improving it.

The result will be something so different than the initial game that people won't be able to compare.

    First thing's first: character customization

The main character is Bobby, a friendly black hole on a mission to get rid of invading asteroids.

In order to make him more human poor Bobby needed some eyes first. And that went to *****

I made the eyes separate, and then struggled to sync them. Meanwhile Bobby was making these retarded faces:

Pretty damn funny until I had to spend an hour getting them to sync properly, and another hour to implement the (now) primitive animations.

More customizations included hats, skin color (yes, there is a pink here!) and trail that's left behind (kinda like an unicorn permanently farting).

At least now has a face and a personality, be that retarded or not.

  • Cheers!

Right now I don't have much problem distinguishing the enemies since they're much bigger than the last image I have here. I shall update this shortly with more stuff and things!

  • "Inspired" by another game

Black Bobby The Hole started from the concept that I saw in another game. There, I said it!

That game had the player to be a colored ball, and he would increase in size once he'd collide with a smaller ball of the same color.

I liked it. I was hooked for several hours which is way more than I could say about most games. I'm just hard to please, but that's another story.

So yea, now I gave people an opportunity to call me an ******* and say that I clone games.

So I figured I could make it much better. Add a story, add some cool graphics and some more gameplay elements.

This took the form of the very first prototype with one map, the growing in size mechanic and 3 abilities which the player could use.

It did not entertain for long, just like a prostitute, it doesn't last (trust me...I KNOW....).

So onward into the journey of taking a piece of **** and sculpting it into an annoying monster.

  • I'm in a rush so sorry anticipated that I'm not following the pattern to submit a bug report in a decent manner. However I recorded a gif.

I cannot attach the project since it's very big and important; Ashley if you cannot reproduce this I'll give it a shot after a while when I get some time.

I hope this helps (it's not something that people cannot avoid obviously, so it's not so important I'd guess)

  • I just tried it for another bug report (https://www.scirra.com/forum/pubcenter-banner-size-problem-and-missing-win10-images_t171515) and it was working fine - it showed the banner OK (I saw this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15217362/pubcenter.png). Are you sure you have Visual Studio and the ad SDK updated to the latest versions, and using the correct IDs from pubCenter?

Thanks for coming back on this. It is partially working. The 728x90 banner works (it was extremely upscaled for me as well), however when I tried 300x600 it loaded nothing. Fine, there's no ad I told myself, but then the screen was occupied by this invisible frame in which the ad was supposed to be.

    Any way to bypass this?

I've uploaded here the visual studio project, the C2 project and the CBHash which I have in the C2 project in case it asks you for it (or only asks if I used the plugin in the project? -unsure-)

I also used the test values I found here but nothing worked so then I went to the windows dev center dashboard and created an ad myself which I utilized.

As a side question, any chances of getting the ad mediation SDK from Microsoft to work?

    Cheers!

  • If it was only that easy.....

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I finally made it to wok work somewhat after adding the reference to the JavaScript advertising and manually placing the code in the generated one

  • Can't get it to work either...no clue what's wrong

  • Same, not working for me either.

  • Great job blackhornet thanks a lot!

  • For Z order: what I used for a tower def game was the floor tiles had an instance variable starting from 1 on the top left and whenever the user placed something it was ordering the z order of the tiles based on the instance variable.
