  • Thanks for the ideas. We're not going to do tilemaps right away by the looks of things, but when we do, we'll come back and review these ideas and talk about it with everyone to make sure we do the right thing :)

  • Oh, Direct2D isn't available on Windows XP, I forgot. It's part of DX10 for Vista+ only. Duh! Well, I'm not sure how to tell then.

  • Now I think about it, it would make sense to do polygon collisions before physics really - otherwise all your physics collisions will be bounding box too!

  • Yeah, you should resize the ghost shooter window to the same size as the other tests to keep it fair.

Firefox 4+ uses hardware acceleration, but only if your drivers are up to date. Go Firefox menu -> Help -> Troubleshooting information, and under "Graphics", check "Direct2D enabled" is "true".

Firefox 6 seems a fair bit faster than Firefox 4 - in some of my tests, it actually has come out the fastest of all browsers. Different browsers are good at different things.

  • BSOD usually cannot be caused by software. So I would guess the problem is not Google Chrome. BSOD is usually only caused by driver problems or system errors. Maybe time to reinstall Windows... Chrome is rock solid and totally stable for me here.

  • Hi all,

Construct 2 r56 now means C2 has both image origins (formerly "hotspots") and image points. These were previously two of the biggest requests for C2.

The time has come to see what's next for Construct 2. The thread What's next for Construct 2? serves as a great shortlist, so I've taken some of the most popular suggestions and added this to a poll. This way it's easy for me to see at a glance what I should work on next!

Give it some thought, because we can't do everything at once, and whatever tops the poll will probably be whatever I work on next :) You can only choose one, so pick the one you want most. (I know a lot of these everyone wants, but I can re-run polls later once stuff gets completed.) Also note, we're not considering other exporters at this time - we're sticking to HTML5.

    Happy voting!

  • HTML5 already runs on all desktop PCs, iPhone, Android, and many other devices, via the browser. Is it the app stores you specifically want to publish through? You seem to disregard HTML5 although it's already totally multiplatform and runs most places you mentioned.

  • shinkan, was that in r55? I fixed what I think may have been a possible cause of that recently.

  • ethan0004, can you send me the file that doesn't open? Can you remember what you were doing just before the last save?

  • I tried to take all elements from rojo's events sheet and copy them to my project's events sheet (as sub event of a group), that was denied.

What do you mean by "denied"?

hen I go and make blank sub events and copy event by event.

This worked until I tried to copy event N?4. That was denied.

    Again, what happened?

tried to reach its value (Double clicking the action in rojo's capx still) then I have a Vc++ library crash window telling me there's a runtime error. When validating, C2 quits.

Does it happen if you do it again? If so, can you send me a .capx file saved just before the action which crashes, then indicate what I do to crash it? If I go through all these instructions myself, I feel it's likely I'll do something slightly different to what you did.

  • We've got plans to export to a number of different platforms in future, including Android and iOS. We're just a small team so it might take us some time to get round to it!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • The old Construct is now called 'Construct Classic', which helps differentiate it. So it's 'Construct Classic' and 'Construct 2'.

The idea of renaming Construct 2 now is totally impractical anyway - we're way too invested in the current name to even consider changing it.

  • Hi Pete, I opened your file, moved a sprite in the layout level_1, and hit save. It worked fine. Is there anything else you're doing before it crashes? It might be something else which is causing the bug.

  • The bullet behavior only needs one event to get it to always move to the mouse (always - set angle to Mouse.X, Mouse.Y). Does that really justify a whole new behavior? <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
