  • iPad can run HTML5 games in the browser too.

  • Yep, it's in the manual now too.

he dotted rectangle in the top left indicates the window size in the layout.

  • I recommend Chrome: not only does it run the best in WebGL benchmarks by far, it supports the Web Audio API for decent audio playback too.

  • Yep, definitely looks like the other app is intruding in to Construct 2 and breaking it, not the other way round.

  • What do you mean by "run" HTML? HTML is a markup language to define the layout of a document. Your plugin could change the page's HTML by using jQuery (which is bundled with the runtime) if you wanted to change the page in some way.

  • Buried somewhere in the depths of my todo list is a custom layout as a loading screen, and the ability to start the game when the *first* layout only is ready - so you can be downloading the rest of the game while playing level 1. It's some way off though.

  • Lots of related discussion in this thread. In short, it's not worth the hassle, so I wouldn't recommend it.

  • Are you sure you have the very latest drivers?

This kind of thing sounds like nVidia's fault to me. I can't think of anything Construct 2 does that would be broken by another app. It's just an ordinary OpenGL application. IMO you should report this to nVidia, I don't know what we could change in Construct 2 to stop other apps breaking it, it's probably better to fix those apps!

I bet this system monitor thing is designed for games and somehow breaks apps. Graphics card makers always have rubbish unstable drivers that never work, it's pretty annoying.

  • Yeah, there's actually a lot of engines around - Impact got going a bit before us IIRC too, I think they were one of the first HTML5 engines on the market. However these are all generally engines rather than full blown IDEs like Construct 2, so you have to program, you don't get lots of the nice editors in C2, etc. etc. so I think things are still much quicker and easier with C2.

  • Heh, that's cool. Scoop.it is user-made news pages though, so it doesn't guarantee it's a high-traffic page.

  • I haven't ever been able to reproduce this which makes it extremely difficult to fix, can you find a way to always make it happen? (Backup your project first!) Also you should be able to just click 'ignore' or 'retry' on all the messages and open the project, but you'll need to find the object with a missing frame or two and replace them.

  • You should never send passwords in plain-text!

If possible I would advise avoiding this problem completely - don't use passwords in HTML5 games or apps. It's extremely difficult to make it secure. If you want to check the user is logged in to your site, I would recommend using cookies or session state and simply AJAX a page that says if you're logged in or not (and the server can tell from your session/cookie). Alternatively the server can add something to the HTML of the page containing the game to indicate the user is logged in, and the game can look for that (possibly by a third party plugin). None of these ways needs you to deal with a password.

  • Try Construct 3

  • It should work just fine. That's what the request tags are for - so you can tell apart different requests. However, the responses could arrive in a completely different order to the way you made the requests, so don't code anything expecting A to come back first, then B, then C etc.
