  • plauk, I guess Kyatric meant "particular", English isn't their native language (like a lot of people on this forum).

Glad to hear people are finding the manual useful though! (It's taking quite a long time to get it all written up, but hopefully it won't be much longer)

    Edit: missed the joke, lol.

  • You have two options:

    • Buy it for the individual. They can use their license on as many computers as they like, but only they can use the license. (This is intended for portable installations.)
    • Buy it for a machine at the organisation. Anyone can use it, but the license can only be used on that computer.

You can use the gift/"for someone else" on the store page to assign the license either to the individual or to the organisation (type in the organisation name for "who's it for?".

  • Moving to Website Issues so Tom sees this.

  • That's odd, there's no reason for localhost to go through your router. I've heard from other people reports that you just need to wait 10-15 seconds and the preview starts up - some network thing timing out then it falls back to local. Not sure what that is because the preview files are 100% local to the computer. Maybe you kept closing it before the timeout?

  • Heh, no, Scirra was actually made up a few years ago. With some help from TiAm we managed to reverse engineer a funny acronym :)

  • Can you paste the exact text you entered here so I can try it with exactly what you typed in?

  • It's hard to say because the function/timeline objects are third-party plugins not designed by Scirra, so you'd be best off asking the developers themselves. If you make an example just using the official objects though I can tell you exactly what is happening.

  • planetserve, your example works just fine here. Maybe try reinstalling Construct 2?

  • IMO hashing the password before sending it still is insecure, you are still holding the password in the javascript code in the browser when you don't need to. If the user presses Ctrl+Shift+J and hunts around in Chrome's debugger they can probably find the unencrypted password. Maybe no big deal if it's your password, but then it's vulnerable to javascript injection or XSS attacks that can let an attacker get the unencrypted password!

I don't see any reason at all to deal with passwords in a HTML5 app, it's always going to be insecure, and there's no reason to - you can do it all securely with the traditional cookies/session state. I strongly recommend you change your login system to never use passwords in the Construct 2 itself.

  • Nothing, Xcode is a long and complicated way to make a phone app, and PhoneGap is a quick and easy way to make a phone app. They both do exactly the same thing.

  • Have you tried updating your driver to the latest version? I'm afraid we cannot fix graphics drivers for other companies, it's up to them. If you have the latest drivers and it still doesn't work you should take up the issue with AMD.

  • Have you tried changing the platform movement's acceleration and deceleration properties?

  • era: you can embed your index.html, C2's JS framework, the media and images folders inside a UIWebView shell, and sell that on the AppStore.

That's exactly what PhoneGap does. You can sell PhoneGap apps on the App Store too.

  • I don't know... we don't want to make Construct 2 in to a HTML designer. First everyone will want the background color, then a logo, then a text field, then a way to do this and that... and if you know HTML it's really simple to do this stuff. I'd really suggest finding a HTML tutorial on the web for this, you can do so so much more than the options Construct 2 will ever provide. Just remember not to remove anything from the HTML in case you break it!
