  • tap - you forgot to change the ID of this plugin in the SDK! Please change it as soon as possible! You must not use the same ID as an official plugin. It is already creating difficult compatibility problems. Users are reporting their projects are unopenable, and it is caused by this plugin. We are then having to support these users which is taking up our time. FYI, we officially recommend that you do not copy official plugins, partly because it causes compatibility problems like this.

  • This is by design at the moment. It would be difficult to change because if we require animations in folders to use a different name, it would break all existing projects which use animations in folders!

In the engine, animations are just a flat list, hence they have to have unique names regardless of their folder. The same goes for most things in Construct 2 actually: layouts, event sheets and objects must all use unique names regardless of their folder. The folders are just there to help you organise so you don't end up with one insane list of everything. I can't see a good way to change this easily right now, so I'm going to close as won't fix.

  • Thanks, good catch. Fixed for next build.

  • Reordering layouts: fixed for next build.

Objects disappearing from editor after save or export: can't reproduce, everything works normally here. Are you sure your graphics card drivers are up to date? Sounds like it might be a driver bug. Can you provide any more information about the problem? Do all computers do it or just one particular one?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • It looks the same in the editor and in the game here. It looks like the second example (the game screenshot). Did you try just closing and reopening Construct 2? That might help align the editor images with what the game is showing (not sure why they'd ever be out of sync though)

  • Should be fixed in r105.

  • We have not changed any of the code around importing audio for a few months now. So this is very strange. Are you sure you haven't changed some configuration option on your PC?

Perhaps if you try to run the Ogg encoder tool directly (from a command line) - does it work or does it report an error there?

  • The falling platform counts as a moving platform so the platform engine will probably try to keep the player sitting on it. You should use your workaround (adjusting the velocity) if you want to avoid this.

  • The typical way is to add a timestamp (time in seconds since 1970) to the request URL, e.g. myfile.php?t=187945933...

Unfortunately C2 doesn't give you a way to get this yet - a third party plugin can help though.

  • We're watching the opus codec, but no browsers support it yet, and until *every* browser does then it will only further complicate things. We really want to avoid a third codec unless it can replace the existing two, and that is likely a couple years away. (Standardisation is very pre-emptive.)

I've definitely had Chrome looping audio seamlessly - the rain demo loops the rain sound, which is seamless in Chrome (but not Firefox). Are you sure the audio file itself actually loops seamlessly?

  • BrianOD - you can upgrade C2 without the start page. In fact, you can do everything without the start page. It's not essential for anything.

  • The intention is that everyone votes for the tutorials they like best, so that they come to the top of the 'Top rated' list. Everyone can help by voting more frequently on tutorials. There are a lot of high quality tutorials with very few votes!

We might be redesigning the tutorials section in the near future - hopefully we can find ways to organise it all better.

  • JohnnySix - numbers are allowed in variable names in Construct 2. This is a real bug!

  • The cursor can be over two objects at once. If you only want to modify one, you might want to add a 'pick topmost' condition to pick the top object the cursor is over.

  • andreyin - that is definitely wrong! 'Wait' already takes a time in seconds, so there's no need to use dt. Your examples will have a strange and probably random effect on the wait times.
