  • Thanks for the report but the bug is in Ludei's code and we've already notified them about it - so closing this report.

  • Closing as won't fix: 'spawn' is implemented as 'create' followed by 'set position' and 'set angle' to the object spawning. Therefore the spawn will override anything set in 'On created'. To work around this, as you noted just use the system Create instead.

  • Hi everyone,

Please be aware we've been notified about a scam involving Construct 2 licenses. If you receive an email asking for your Construct 2 license, do not answer it.

We never send unsolicited emails asking for licenses. Sometimes to help diagnose problems we may ask for your license, but only after you have first contacted us at an — email address. Even when we find pirated licenses, we do not ask for the old license. So if you receive an email out of the blue asking to send your license, it's a scam.

If you ever send your license to someone who isn't you, you risk your license being revoked. If you have already sent someone your license, please let us know. All we want to do is stop your license being used by other people, so we will just revoke your old license, issue you a new one, and ask you to be a little more careful in future. Your use of Construct 2 won't be affected. You should definitely contact us though, since if we find your license is being used by other people we will revoke it.

Below is an example scam email. Note the email does not come from the official scirra.com domain. Some sophisticated scammers may even be able to make it look like the email came from scirra.com; even then you should still not answer the email, since we never send unsolicited emails asking for licenses.

    Example of a SCAM email:

    ------------------------------

    From: <<>zus@scirra.dx.am>

    Date: 2013/5/19

    Subject: Construct 2 license update

    To: <your email>

Hello, <username>. Your license will be revoked at <date>

(new versions of Construct 2 wouldn't work any more).

You should obtain a new license file by sending us

your old license (to verify that its legal).

Reply at this e-mail with attached c2license.txt file

and You will get a new one after it would be verified.

    ------------------------------

DO NOT REPLY WITH YOUR LICENSE TO THIS KIND OF EMAIL! If you have already done so please let us know so we can revoke the stolen license and issue you a new one.

  • We'll look in to supporting Ubuntu Phone, but it depends on the quality of the browser engine running the HTML5 apps. If it's Chromium-based that's great, but if it's just a layout engine with software rendering we might not get very far...

  • Are there any actual devices running webOS that have been launched or are planned?

  • Colour Coding

It's already done and is coming in the next build.

    b]Code Analytics and search functions

These are pretty significant features that will take a while to implement. They've been on the todo list for while already. Your other suggestions (bookmarks, other keyboard shortcuts etc.) are also all already on the todo list; we're aware of them, it's just we have about 100 other things on the todo list (literally) and lots of other users just like yourself pressing us for the features they want to see. Unfortunately we can only work at a certain speed!

arnings: Which functions are called and not actually defined?

The Function object already warns this, as well as some other mistakes, in the browser console.

    b]Replacing sprite

When an existing sprite is loaded with a new image can we have the option to retain current size?

A possible workaround is to overwrite the file directly in the project folder while Construct 2 is closed.

    udio support is very primitive.

I disagree! We have good audio support which includes advanced features. It works well where the Web Audio API is supported; the main problem is which platforms support the Web Audio API.

t is unclear what the best practice is. i.e, should we make everything a wave file first and then import.

That is indeed the best practice, which is documented in the manual.

f we made the wave why would we want to keep it in the capx?

In case you wanted to re-encode it to a different quality later. I wanted to add an option to re-encode all your .wavs to a different quality on export so you didn't have to decide right away what quality to use, but I never got round to the feature. It might also be useful for you as a backup, since re-encoding .ogg or .m4a is lossy and further degrades the quality. You can delete them if you like.

lso can we please get a replace sound with another sound function?

Just overwrite it in the project folder.

lease provide a preview function within C2.

Right-click -> Open will play it with the default associated program.

  • Closure Compiler doesn't rename anything using string syntax (Object["property"]). Everything using dot syntax (Object.property) is renamed.

So if you add a function to the window object using string syntax:

    window["MyFunction"] = function () {...};

you should be able to call it from C# using the same syntax, and it will survive minification, e.g. by executing the string:

    "window[\"MyFunction\"]();"

Usually for robustness I add a check that the function exists, to prevent it crashing in case it tries to execute that before your plugin has created the function:

    "if (window[\"MyFunction\"]) window[\"MyFunction\"]();"

In short, if anything is sensitive to being renamed, use string syntax.

  • Closing as won't fix. AAC (.m4a) is a patented format, and we would have to pay licensing fees to include a commercial quality encoder inside Construct 2. This is one of several reasons we prefer Ogg Vorbis (the encoder for it is also much better quality and free for us to use). To work around the fees we use the AAC encoder built-in to Windows, so we don't need to ship our own encoder. However as you've probably guessed it's a really crap encoder.

Fixing this would require using a better encoder that would cost us license fees, and we're not prepared to do that. Importing your own .m4a files using your own encoder is one workaround. Also you might want to encourage Microsoft to support Vorbis next time you contact them....

  • You should be able to do this already using the PinnedUID expression.

  • You bumped an old thread again, and it's changed yet again since the last post. r130 beta lets you call javascript directly from the built-in Browser object.

  • Closing, this not a bug, it's a shortcut for closing the app. (I'd remove it if I could because this has been reported as a "bug" a lot, but AFAIK it's buried within our UI library.)

  • Closing, please follow the bug report guidelines or post in the 'How do I' forum for other help.

  • Closing as issue worked around.

  • It's what you choose after selecting 'Export project'.
