[R6 13/10/2013 FREE MUSIC] tulamide's USL Series

From the Asset Store
80 pieces of loopable game music, 10 game overs and 10 level complete pieces.
  • USL stands for Ultra Short (music) Loop.

In this series I offer music loops with perfect transitions that are not longer than 16 bars. Most of the audio is 4 to 8 bars long, but there are also loops of 2 bars and 16 bars. They are of different styles and tempo and most of them feature variations (mostly longer versions with more instruments). Note that these loops are arranged music and not just drums or bass or chords on its own.

Wherever you want to save on file size these music loops come in handy. Just think of a start screen that will most often not be used longer than a few seconds. Why loading a complete song? This is just an example of course. I'm sure you'll find dozens of occasions where the loops are useful.

You can hear a demo of the initial release loops here.

All loops in the demo run a few times to prove the carefully mastered transitions. At the start of every loop a comment will pop up showing the loop's file name.

All loops are provided in 44.1kHz, 24 bit pcm wave (.wav) to assure the best quality. It's up to you to convert them to a format of your choice. The link leads to a dropbox folder, where you can download single loops of your choice - or all at once.

Just add music by tulamide in the credits, or, where multiple musicians are used, replace "music" with the name of the loop without the bar length (e.g. jungle_4b.wav becomes "jungle" by tulamide)

Comments welcome, just don't be too harsh

  • Some great stuff here,I especially like "winter" and "nightmare" many thanks for posting...

Is there a tulamide's ULL series?...

  • Is there a tulamide's ULL series?... Who knows, maybe, I can't foresee the future ... But if this series is successful (and welcome) I might produce some 20 minute songs ...

  • These are fantastic! Dreams is my favourite, but the Reaper tracks are a close second

It's a great idea too - I usually skip through start screens in seconds, so it should be important to set a musical theme up instantly rather than assuming the player will hang around.

  • hi

thanks for these; I esp like the jungle one...

  • Thank you very much -Silver- and mineet

Hopefully it's also useful for others. If the thread gets enough attention, I'd be happy to extend the series with more stuff!

  • Nice little tracks, I like 'em! Would love to hear more work from ya. :D

  • Amazing work tulamide, thanks for sharing this!

I really liked summer_8b and 16b, they had a very classical feel. And reaper_strong_8b, whoa that has a really cinematic sound (very cool). I think my favourite was definitely reaper_soft_8b (I guess I'm just a big softy at heart)!

Thanks again, I think I'll leave these playing in the background while I work

  • Nice little tracks, I like 'em! Would love to hear more work from ya. :DThanks DatapawWolf ! I'm afraid most of the game music I compose is bound to other people's projects :D But I started to create new loops for this series, so there will be more soon ;)

I'm so insecure regarding my music (there's someone who knows what I'm talking about^^) that such a comment is really giving me a lot of confidence. I might be on the right track :)

...And if you're a big softy at heart, well, then I'm also. reaper_soft is my favourite too xD

  • Hey tulamide,

Your music is really good, and you have every reason to be confident about your skills! I'm looking forward to hearing some more tracks in the future :)

  • As promised here is new stuff...

    6 July 2013, Revision 2

12 fresh new music loops for you to use in your games! Just go to the first post of this thread. The link to the new demo is added there.

You'll find the new loops for download following the same link as for the initial loops (again, just go to the first post). That link leads to a dropbox folder where you can download single files of your choice, or all at once as a .zip file.

And please, comment. For example, if you think a certain style, theme or athmospere is missing

  • Noone?

  • Wow. Alone, reaper soft, and reaper strong are amazing. Seriously Professional quality.

  • Hey tulamide,

I've only just seen your update. I've often thought it'd be nice to be able to tag/favourite a thread, so that it's easy to keep track of any updates. Anyway, luckily I was looking on the site at just the right time to notice it!

Thanks for another fantastic collection of music. I really liked both dungeon-(soft) & (strong)-8b. Not sure if it's what you meant them for, but I thought they would both work really well in a western/cowboy styled game. Leisure-8b has a very fun relaxed sound, that would work really well in any platform styled game. I liked alone-8b as well, I thought it was a very moving piece. Run-8 & 16b both felt really heart pounding, and suit their name very well. And forces-8b was a really BIG sound, and very intense, really good for building atmosphere in a game.

Thanks for making these free to use. You must have been working very hard to get 12 more tracks out so soon.

  • TunaUppercut

Thank you! All loops are created with a lot of effort, so it feels good to get such a compliment.

    Blacksmith

Thank you so much for taking the time to review in detail. I really appreciate it!

And yes, it is hard work. 8 hours a day in addition to my daily work, for several weeks. I even cheeted a little bit by using "hamlet" which originally was a track from a prototype I never realized.

Btw, if it isn't asked too much: In case you stumble upon a loop that you really dislike (I don't mean loops that are just of a genre that doesn't touch you, but really bad loops in your ears), would you mind describing it, too?

To prevent that you miss the next update, I'll make sure to "@" you in the post

To all others who listened to the demos: Please, please, comment. Especially if you didn't like it. I can only improve if I know what you think of it.
