A set of 30 Second Music Loops to add Emotion to your game!
• tulamide,

No worries, I'd be very happy to help out

Anyway, it's the very least I could do, when you are giving away all of your hard work for free!

And it helps that I really like listening to your music as well! But don't worry, I promise I'll give you an honest review ;)

I'll keep my eyes open for your next post.

And don't forget to take a break now and then, everyone need to relax once in a while!

• Here we go again...

21 July 2013, Revision 3

12 new music loops again! The highlights this time: odd time signatures and chiptunes.

You can

hear a demo of all new loops here

First post also updated. You find the download link in the first post, as always.

I won't give up hope that you all add a little comment here after listening, wether it's good, bad, your-number-one-choice or unusable.

Wake up! There's a lot to hear and enjoy

• Its all pretty good to me.

Have thought about putting some of it up on http://opengameart.org/?

• Awesome!!!

Really...

But the downloading link doesn't work for me... :(

• Thank you for the link newt, I wasn't aware of this site. Looks like all I ever wanted for decades (whenever one of my projects lack good graphics - always^^). I'll make myself comfortable with the rules (it seems that wav files aren't allowed for music) and then try to share the loops with them.

parside

Link corrected! (At least I hope so ;) ) Sorry for the inconvenience.

• Thank you a lot.

I want also say you that I would like comment with more interest your works, they are super, but I cannot by my bad english.

I'm so sorry...

• parside

Thank you so much! And please don't worry about the language.

English isn't my mother tongue and I almost only use it when I'm here on the forums. So I was very afraid when posting the first time years ago. I thought everyone would laugh about my bad english or that the ones from english speaking countries would feel offended by the raping of their language. My contributions are still full of mistakes.

But in fact no one laughs and nobody feels offended! I even get the feeling that a lot of people are quite glad that they don't need to learn another language and therefor respect your tries to use their language.

• Hey tulamide,

Here again for my weekly fix of music! ;) Your new stuff is sounding really good.

The campfire collection has a nice tribal feel to it. I particularly like the way the sound rises and falls in campfire_night_16b. They would all work really well in a fantasy styled RPG!

steamroller_8b has a futuristic / apocalyptic type sound (very cool)!

I love panies_8b & itsameeh_8b, both have a very retro style. They would work well in a pixel-art platform styled game. Although pansies_8b sounds a little bit sad :(

troops_4b has a very BIG sound, and does conjure up images of an army on the march. And troops_2b has a much faster, heart pounding feel to it. Both would be great for building tension and creating atmosphere in a game!

I like parasite_(a, b, and c), they all have a very modern, even slightly futuristic feel to them.

As always, another fantastic collection to add atmosphere, tension, suspense, and real feeling into our games. And I still haven't found one I dislike yet!

Nice work ;)

• Oh my gosh, so many awesome little tracks! I'm glad you're still producing these, they're like mini bites of inspiration for me

Reaper is probably still my favourite, but Alone is also phenomenal. Really, really great work.

Thank you once again for a wonderful review! Everyone reading them should get a perfect summary of the content. Yet better, it helps me a lot to classify the loops for future works. A precious contribution for me.

-Silver-

I'm still producing these because a very good person currently teaches me the lesson that optimism is far better than pessimism. So I stick with it.

But I don't know if I can keep the pace. I'll probably take a break first to avoid mistakes I made in the past. The series will continue though...

• It's about time...

11 August 2013, Revision 4

12 new music loops again! This time extreme sound experiments and a lot of melancholy. (Need to let a character die? Try "tears"...)

You can hear a demo of all new loops here

First post also updated. You find the download link in the first post, as always.

And please say something. No matter what. There are a lot of people listening to the loops, why not drop a short line afterwards?

Blacksmith

There's work waiting for you!

just nudging to let you know of a few new mini bites of inspiration

• tulamide,

Another fantastic collection of loops, you can certainly hear a greater level of sadness and sorrow in this collection (by the way, 'sadness and sorrow', one of my all-time favourite tracks!).

tears_4b - a really moving piece, you can hear the sadness and despair your character is experiencing.

fernweh_4b - very cool, slow and relaxed platform style sound. oyster_8b - is another very relaxed sounding loop, which would be great as a theme for the main character in a platformer.

stealth_(light)_4b, and stealth_(full)_8b - both have a very smooth secret agent feel to them. I can almost see a figure in black, sneaking around buildings and taking out the bad guys.

sailing_8b - another fun platformer sound that would work really well in a retro styled, pixel art project.

machine_8b - great futuristic sound, which makes me imagine a blade runner type world (very cool!).

chimera_(var1)_8b, another great sound, which conjures up images of samurai masters who wander the countryside, righting the wrongs of an evil overlord (everyone, please feel free to use this idea if you like)

imminence_16b & imminence_(ambience)_16b - are both fantastic tension builders. They really make you feel as if something is just around the corner, waiting to get you (ahhhhhh....). They'd be great for a horror or thriller styled game.

roulette_2b & ghosts_8b, both have a much more fun and upbeat sound, and both would be great for fun, comic, cartoon styled characters

Please could you try harder to create something I don't like, that way I'll finally have something to complain about

• Nice musics :)

What tools are you using to compose ?

• Great work! I liked all of them, but my favourites are reaper and tears

• Blacksmith

Please could you try harder to create something I don't like, that way I'll finally have something to complain about I'll try even more harder!

Thank you once again for your helpful work! Your ability to get to the heart of the music with just a few words is amazing. And you're investing some of your time. Apart from the community getting an overview, it has become some kind of a compass to me. (If my intentions and your descriptions coincide, I've done my job right.) I really appreciate it!

Seasky

Thank you very much. I'll try hard to add a third favourite!

Sylvain

Thanks!

My main workhorse is Reason 5, where I create most of the sounds from scratch with the various synths and samplers. I also use Reaper with a big collection of virtual instruments. The most important probably are Addictive Keys Studio Grand, which was part of a software collection that came with my masterkeyboard (btw. a really simple one, 49 full size keys, 4 endless knobs, 1 fader, pitch and modulation wheel), and the freeware instruments Crystal, Unifyer 3, Freehand Free and the DSK series. I also use Reaper for mastering, with free vst like BootEQ mk 2, Aradaz Maximizer, Ambience, epicVerb and W1 Limiter. But the most important tool to compose is ... your soul
