  • Hi

why Construct3 doesn’t officially support loading remote images yet?

This feature would be extremely useful for apps that need dynamic user-generated or external content (for example, avatars, product images, or online galleries).

Currently, I’m using an external plugin to load remote images and display different images for each instance of an object, and I can even save them to Local Storage.

However, this plugin doesn’t support SDK v2, which means I can’t update my project or upgrade Construct 3 to the latest version without breaking my app.

  • All of this can be done without external plugins. Although it's not very convenient.

If loading external resources becomes more convenient, I will be very happy.

Please provide the name or link to your plugin. I want to see what features it has.

  • Thank you for your reply!

I’m currently using the “Remote Image” plugin created by Sparsha. It allows me to load different images from URLs for each instance of an object and even save them to Local Storage for offline use.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t support SDK v2, so I can’t update my project or move to the latest Construct version.

That’s why I really hope Construct will include official support for loading remote images in the future — it’s an essential feature for apps that need dynamic or user-generated content.

  • What's the issue with the sprite plugin's "Load image from URL" action?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

That's strange. I was able to create a project and test your plugin in the latest stable version of Construct 3 (r449-2). So you should be able to update to the latest version.

By the way, if you have a problem with the plugin, I've posted an example of how to do it without it. It's not as convenient, but it's possible.

  • I tried using the Sprite plugin’s “Load image from URL” action.

I created one sprite, then made multiple copies of it, and tried to load a different image URL into each sprite instance.

However, all instances show the same image, even though I used different URLs for each one.

It seems the sprite object shares the same texture between all instances, so loading a new image replaces it for every instance.

    That makes sense.

If you just had a sprite, it would always be the same image no matter where you created it.

If you want to load many different images into one sprite and want them to be saved, you first need to add a new animation or frame to this sprite using an action. Then you need to load the images there. And when you spawn the sprite, you need to select a frame or animation.

In your plugin, you did this via ID, but here you do it via frame number or animation name.

  • It'd funny they did lot of stuff users doesn't need like unlovly free asset and more script in your eventsheet i see typescript?

but the "most wanted" like improved business mode(likethe others leading platform), mutliplayer tobe useful, or the topic HERE the load image ctrl suuport

it's so foul, a SUUUUUUUUUPER simple"action', they make it a a a a really SUPER complx logic that even AI cannot get it, even me or you search on google, you'll see the Construct 3 istotally unreasnable, unlogicalyy

when you check my forum post in this pass years, i give a lotof advice for them, igot only old-British way reply, claims that ME the user i am the problem one, not them, their logic, their design just perfect, you can send a github new function reqeust for them.......but they will not accept it if it's not up like them

iam sorry for my english and my new keyboard

as someone who truly loves C3, I've already received an official warning they told me to be careful with my words otherwise I'd prepare a thousand F words. Anyway, the community has been completely emptied out due to completely WRONG business decisions. While everyone else is making money from the big fish, they're asking the the communiy to pay taxes every yearly to develop free assets(they spend a lot of time on copyright protection for these no one wants:) even it's for free copyright download, idont see who will download it lol.

What we want is what on Google years years ago: more modern pricing model and further openness(C2 build by us who dev with, together, but you now think you guys the Spartans of software?). I want you to know that after the warning from Ashley, my heart has cooled. I've given up on my crazy plans for C3 and switched to developing an independent engine, I found that doing something through C3 is more complicated than writing .js files directly. All the logic is difficult to understand, and there is no convenient debugging function...

Oh, and anyone passing here by is welcome to download my Multiplayer-2/X(https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/qy89c2gteaqbj8bmpi2ic/Multiplayer2-8.zip?rlkey=6dvfuzvf2ucybntv78j18lqwo&st=zf7u4ldh&dl=0), an improved official version that supports multiple channels. so now you can makea real online game by multi-room support (to you for Data segmentation processing), This is our team's last plugin, a heartbreaking work (The official has REJECTED and CLOESED everythng)

after this plugin we found making any ideas impossible to realize, You'll end up creating some incomplete mini-games(mini ever!) in your event sheet, or like me and my old friends know from C2, using more and more JS and modifying more and more official plugins, in the end, you discover that C3 is just a "bad-to-use online JS container" and then, filled with disappointment! you realize that C2 is your former wife. C3 has become a greedy, money-hungry wife who doesn't do the work fit your soul, she won't let you leave the house, won't tell you anything about her (closed source code).... she wantyou become what she want til you no longer you.

In the old C2 era, we were absolutely capable of competing with the Exxx/P/U ever stupid roblox platforms with construct way, Now C3 is no more convenient to use than them, and no less expensive. Sigh, i won't say more, for i'm afraid they'll get angrier as they get poorer. Tell me what you want. I've dedicated many years to C3 and developed many great things that have never been public.

just...the construct team don't know their right position and turly customer group(income-way)

oh, about the loadimage from url, don't waste your time to build up any NETWROK GAME/APP in C3, that's will kill you, just use the js for a line of code(as they official ask for WESHOULD use JS, i agree)

dont say that, this is your problem, you're not smart enough like them

i useto try to let my friends and AI to understand the logic of C3, i failed)

I completely understand your feelings and frustration. It seems that you have invested many years and a lot of effort, trying to improve things and share your ideas, but faced many obstacles. It’s natural to feel frustrated when things don’t work as expected or when the logic is very complex.

As for me, I don’t have much experience in designing programs or games, and I do it just as a hobby in my free time. I truly appreciate your advice and experiences.

and I will try to learn JavaScript to improve myself and develop my skills.
