  • real-time 3D editor plugin is almost complete and is scheduled for release in early February. The latest updates now include almost every feature you need to edit your 3D layouts directly within Construct 3 (3d scaling, moving, rotating, shape changing, face changing, opacity, texturing, ...) + some better 3D editing tools to simplify level creation. All in live synchronization between Construct 3 and the 3D editor

(Setup in this public template project took me about 10 seconds)

only the c3addon is required, no other programs/software is needed

  • Two videos that popped up in just 2 days about C3 users switching engines. Especially the one by Foozle gives some good insight to the GDevelop workflow. Looks like a promising start and really nicely integrated i gotta admit.

Probably worth for you to watch.

It seems like a trend. We might see more videos like this in the future. One thing that FoozleCC mentions at the end is quite interesting: "if you think you might use 3D"

It's not only people who are currently working on 3D projects who choose it. Those who might consider 3D in the future see it as a way to futureproof their skills and projects.

joelmayer - You beat me to it on this video by "Foozle". I seen this last night and agreed on all his points he made which are very valid points in his video. I was too tired last night to post it then. I'm glad you posted it as GDevelop 5.6 is gaining a lot of interest and ground on their adoption of the Three.js and the physics along with the 3D Editor. I sure hope Ashley and the deveopment team seriously give this some strong consideration as a great majority of Construct 3 customers/users really do want the same thing as show in GDevelop 5.6 to have the best of both options to be able to create both 2D and 3D games. ;)

  • GDevelop has integrated AI for vibe coding. You can pick your model too -- however it is not free.

  • GDevelop supporting AI features is a fantastic reason not to work with them.

  • Gdevelop has added AI before spritesheets.

I think a lot of people tend to ignore or forget about that fact.

  • Many people use AI to help with Construct programming, but it often requires a lot of back-and-forth..

GDevelop's native AI integration is likely much more efficient and therefore has a smaller carbon footprint on average.

Frankly, I'd be happy to have a built-in AI in C3 to assist with mundane and repetitive tasks.

    C. Dev - Does the current existing beta on the open-collective have any of these newer changes to be tried out by chance? Keep up the great work my friend, your 3D Editor is shaping up very nicely indeed! ;)

Not yet, the version on Opencollective is quite outdated compared to the latest changes and fixes, but the new version only needs a few final touches before release.

  • GDevelop supporting AI features is a fantastic reason not to work with them.

You might personally dislike it for all the right reasons, but AI appeals to the same market no-code tools do - people looking for an easy solution when making a game, without learning any hard programming stuff.

I'm not saying Construct should get as much AI slop integration as possible (in fact it would just make everything worse), but the market niche it fills might not be there in the future as LLMs improve and people decide to go directly for vibecoding their game instead of bothering with event sheets. (even if the final product quality is much lower)

In my testing, it really straight up doesnt work, and burns through tokens super quickly.

I don't think C3 having AI assistance for event sheets is worth it. Maybe an AI for searching through a project or for writing JS/TS but to be honest I'd rather AI tools stay out of C3 completely. I can think of a few hundred features I'd rather see work for before AI agents given how small the Scirra team is.

That's true but in this case why not use Godot or Unity? AI will work better there, integration already exists and the engine is free AND more capable than C3 when it comes to 3D. I just don't think a tool having AI for the purpose of making already simplified code even simpler really makes any sense.

  • I'd just point out one way to perhaps usefully use AI with Construct is using an external editor like VS Code with scripting. Then you can use AI code assistants like Copilot.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I use Construct 3 with google's anitgravity IDE (their clone of vscode) and it is free including the use of gemini 3. It works really well with typescript and is useful for any html you want to do.

About a third of the time it even works on the event sheets--until it writes something C3 won't load. You do have to feed it the console logs (at least I do) if you get an error though. This is the back and forth that is time consuming.

Ashley - I personally don't think Construct 3 really needs an AI assistant as there is plenty of AI assistance already available that can help anyone working with Construct 3. ChatGPT has done very well in this area from my testing of it with certain projects to see what it can accomplish. The 3D Editor though for even basic primitive movement and placement.. The basics is much needed though to work with Construct 3's 3D features though!

    C. Dev - What features will be available for the released very come this February?
