Fortunately it doesn't take much of an imagination to figure out how supply and demand works.

They have an infinite supply, and a dwindling demand.

A suggestion is charging for new versions, but that's broken as well, for a myriad of reasons including piracy.

It's taken years for many companies to figure that out.

There's a reason why Unity gives their stuff out for free.

There's a reason why Adobe does Photoshop subscriptions.

There's a reason why so many game engines fail.

Scirra can't do what Unity does because it doesn't have the huge/successful user base.

You're on a roll. Next are you going to remark on how money doesn't grow on trees?

Let's get right to it - my issue with your post was that there are far more productive ways to disabuse people on here against the currently proposed subscription model of the error of their beliefs than to troll their threads with facile one-liner nonsense.

I'm unable to imagine that you actually believe you just made a coherent argument that you have an interest in defending, rather, I gather your priorities lie more in attempting to deliver verbal put downs against your antagonists. So long as that's the case, as has already been noted, obliging you would be asinine.

    Well here's another one.

    Only time will tell.

Actually I did consider this. But here's the catch: It's a rotating layout. I'm actually thinking of inserting a decoy sprite to be used as the relative 'higher Y' that keeps its position relative to the viewport.

I'll have to do some tests.

Also I forgot there's a 3rd case I just thought of last night:

For this case I'm thinking of put Tilemap and BOX_METAL inside a family (if C2 allows) and replace the:

    overlapping TM at offset with

    overlapping SOLID_FAMILY at offset.

Now hypothetically using the hotspot method it should work but I'm anticipating a whole other set of problems.

Um layer, or layout rotation don't change object y values, and you still have the same circumstances in the third case

    brown overlaps pink

-pink has greater y than brown

It's just a matter of picking

You can filter that the other way

brown y is less than pink y

    -brown is overlapping pink

    Do what?

They can't ask for more money.

The C2 license only works if the user base is fairly successful.

Then that hinges on that success bringing in more users that are in turn successful.

    That hasn't happened.

The current model is not sustainable.

It only works when you can stay ahead of saturation, and this is a niche market.

So anyway, asking them to keep the same method is the same as asking them to go out of business and that is a moral issue with me.

    Yes.

    Edit: Within reason.

They can't do that with the current license.

Software is not analogous to electricity.

Try running a business and not paying some bills.

Im sure you'll see a correlation eventually.

If they were about to go out buisness, and they asked you to pay more so that they could keep the doors open would you agree to that?

Musicians pay thousands of dollars in software and equipment to create music and I'm sure they'd easily trade places with indie game developers. We have it easy. Buy a computer, cheap software and start creating.

    >

The fact that you would rather be a developer than a musician is irrelevant. You missed the point entirely.

I don't think he said that at all.

Which is actually missing the point.

What I am suggesting is that you can continue to use the full versions of offline exporters and all other offline features that were in the last version one downloaded when the subscription was active. (The updates to these exporters and other new features would not be available because the new version would need an active subscription to download.)

Updates include bug fixes which makes the legality of that arguable.

You can't license something and not have a working product.

What happens when you don't pay the electric bill?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Depending on where the hotspot is, the pink box should always have a greater y than the brown on when they are overlapping.

  • Webgl doesn't handle svg rasterization.

So if you were to use them it would lose hardware acceleration.

I think a conversion is possible. It just does not exist in Construct s as of yet.
