  • It's up to you, neither is faster/slower, but you might find it more convenient to use different layouts.

  • Locking thread, please keep all discussion on one subject in one thread

  • I agree with Arima, many users use very deeply nested events and instead of being event 9, it could be event 3.1.1.2.1.1. Not only is that less helpful, it also is probably too wide to fit in the event sheet in its current design!

Perhaps sub-events could just be separately numbered 1, 2, 3... at each nesting level?

  • Does it work if you just export it as a normal HTML5 website and upload? I noticed you made some changes to the HTML, e.g. this:

    script data-djssrc="jquery-1.7.1.min.js" type="text/djs"></script>

    <script data-djssrc="//www.kongregate.com/javascripts/kongregate_api.js" type="text/djs"></script>

'data-djssrc' is not a valid <script> property AFAIK so this is probably breaking it. Also, if you're using the Kongregate API, it might only work when viewed from inside Kongregate (i.e. you have to submit it first).

  • As someone noted Aurora is simply an alpha of a future version of Firefox. Instead of using Aurora you can just simply wait for a couple of months, and Aurora will make its way to beta, then to stable release. Chrome and Firefox both have a process like this:

Firefox: Nightly (3 versions ahead) -> Aurora (2 versions ahead) -> Beta (1 version ahead) -> Stable (current version everyone is using)

Chrome: Nightly (3 versions ahead) -> Canary (2 versions ahead) -> Beta (1 version ahead) -> Stable (current version everyone is using)

The further ahead you are the more likely you are to have stability problems and crashes, because it's pre-release software. However you can get to play with the bleeding edge features, and also sometimes they're faster. For example I was in touch with Mozilla recently and they've added a performance improvement that helps speed up Construct 2 games in Firefox 12 (currently Aurora). That's why it'll be faster - it should be about equal with Chrome. If you don't want to install Aurora, you can just wait for Firefox 12 to get released :)

Oh and thanks Velojet, any chance you could test Chrome 18 too?

Anyone have a PS3 controller? That's an important one we're still missing I think.

nornberg I don't think it's useful to run the test if you've done hacks to change the input. It should be the stock install. Otherwise any mappings I add will be wrong for everyone else. Could you run it again with a default setup? And maybe check Chrome 18 too? :)

  • Just FYI, releasing the EDK is not in our plans for the time being yet. It's quite complicated to organise, because if we pull it off wrong, we will end up with a *big* mess of incompatible features, plugins and behaviors and unportable projects. It's a tricky one to do and at the moment it's not clear how much it would benefit us, especially considering making a new platform requires writing an exporter, plugin/behavior SDK, runtime, a complete suite of compatible plugins and behaviors, and so on. I estimate it's about 6 months work to make a mature exporter and it will require constant maintenance after that as well. So I'm also doubtful it's practical at the hobbyist level, and I don't think many people would take on the risk of that much work at the commercial level. I don't mean to doubt anyone's abilities, I'm just saying it's a huge amount of work!

  • Adding an 'OR' event has been on our todo list for a while, but if the only possible values are 0, 1 and 2, then "variable is greater than 0" is a perfectly standard way of testing if it's 1 or 2.

If you want a quick test, try Space Blaster with Gamepad support:

Probably only supports XBox 360 controller at the moment.
