I mention this because my game was running very badly on Chrome 33, It is running as smooth as butter on the new Beta

Well it works because C2 sees the objects as two different entities even though they are the same object.
The problem here is of course that we all rely on Google to ensure the C2 games perform as they should. Some of the competition have decided not to put all thier eggs into the Google basket.
Try using families. Put the ball into a family then create the joint between the ball and the family.

In fact C2 has the potential to become so much more than just a games engine. Or maybe a spin off of C2 for other types of applications.
