    Created a simple Gltf model renderer, pretty performant with Ashley’s new SDK for static mesh, very cool. Looking forward to the official 3d model renderer from Ashley!

    Mikal If memory serves me correctly here, you are working on some sort of 3D editor yourself arent you with your MakeIt3D plug-in?

  • Currently working with FoozleCC on optimizing the editor tools and overall experience, also performance improvements now allow for way more shapes without large performance losses (tested 500-1000 without any major lags on a Windows 11 laptop)

    C. Dev - This seems to be coming along very nicely indeed! Cannot wait to try it out once it's released in February. Is there any new betas on the Collective site to try out other than what was posted not to long ago?!?

  • I checked out both Crocotile 3D and Blockbench and they both are very interesting pieces of software for what they do. However though, having the ability to have a real-time 3D editor still in Construct 3 would be a much better workflow for one's project(s) in general. Waiting to see what C. Dev has coming this February with his 3D editor plug-in. Hoping it fills the bill for the need at hand for us all! ;)

The latest updates now include almost every feature you need to edit your 3D layouts directly within Construct 3 (3d scaling, moving, rotating, shape changing, face changing, opacity, texturing, ...) + some better 3D editing tools to simplify level creation. All in live synchronization between Construct 3 and the 3D editor

    Not yet, the version on Opencollective is quite outdated compared to the latest changes and fixes, but the new version only needs a few final touches before release.

    C. Dev - What features will be available for the released very come this February?

  • I'd just point out one way to perhaps usefully use AI with Construct is using an external editor like VS Code with scripting. Then you can use AI code assistants like Copilot.

    Ashley - I personally don't think Construct 3 really needs an AI assistant as there is plenty of AI assistance already available that can help anyone working with Construct 3. ChatGPT has done very well in this area from my testing of it with certain projects to see what it can accomplish. The 3D Editor though for even basic primitive movement and placement.. The basics is much needed though to work with Construct 3's 3D features though!

    Two videos that popped up in just 2 days about C3 users switching engines. Especially the one by Foozle gives some good insight to the GDevelop workflow. Looks like a promising start and really nicely integrated i gotta admit.

    Ashley Tom

    Probably worth for you to watch.

    joelmayer - You beat me to it on this video by "Foozle". I seen this last night and agreed on all his points he made which are very valid points in his video. I was too tired last night to post it then. I'm glad you posted it as GDevelop 5.6 is gaining a lot of interest and ground on their adoption of the Three.js and the physics along with the 3D Editor. I sure hope Ashley and the deveopment team seriously give this some strong consideration as a great majority of Construct 3 customers/users really do want the same thing as show in GDevelop 5.6 to have the best of both options to be able to create both 2D and 3D games. ;)

  • Here's another one too!

    Hoping this continues and becomes a full 3D Editor for Construct 3! ;)

  • New updates from developer "MountaineerDev" on his 3D Editor plug-in for Construct 3. Check out his progress below!

  • To begin with:

    • Load 3D models (glb, gltf);
    • Normal 3D view in the editor;
    • Object rotation on all axes;
    • Changing textures in runtime;
    • 3D animation support;
    • Enable/disable nodes;
    • 3D Physics;

    That alone would be wonderful.

    What would be good at least for now would be the following for starters...

    • 3D navigation for creating scene levels
    • Load 3D models (.gltf, .glb, .fbx)
    • 3D view in either the C3 editor or via a popup dialog window
    • 3D object rotation on all 3 axis (3D Primitives and 3D models)

    These 4 points would be a world of great help for starters...

    Ashley - How much work would be involved to implement these four given points above into the Construct 3 engine?

    I had a look at this plug-in and yes, it is quite impressive indeed! However though, it doesn't have any 3D editor though, which is still needed to build 3D related levels using Construct 3's 3D capabilities.

    I found this real-time 3D editor that was in the works below on the 'open collective' link here ---> https://opencollective.com/construct-community/projects/3d-editor

    skymen - Already done that for this current 3D Editor here! However it looks like the developer hasn't done anything with the plug-ins development for quite some time now which is sad! :(

  • Ashley - Here's an idea worth entertaining and could be a great way to gauge and see if the interest for this 3D editor addon to C3 would be worth pursuing for your vast Construct 3 customers/members. Have either a special thread created here in the C3 forums or perhaps a special section on the C3 site for those that would like to vote their interest on certain features in need for their development in Construct 3 and their future projects. Create something similar to that of a crowd-funding section on the Construct 3 site and allows those to vote and contribute additional funding for your team or additional resources to help create and make possible these much needed features and tools for the entire C3 community. I for one would be more than happy to contribute a regular recurring payment donation to help add and further such special features / tools to broaden and expand Construct 3 and make it even better for us all!

    Please give it some thoughts and see if this might be something to consider and be worth while. Yes, there would be a lot of hard work involved for you and the development team... But just think how awesome of a development tool Construct 3 will be even more for it's current and newer customers and users. ;)

    You can also vote for it to get funding from the collective, by joining the Construct Community Discord and then logging in to construct-community-voting.dedragames.com

    Yeah, I have already done all that already. It is interesting that Construct 3 had 3D functionality first before GDevelop 5 and GDevelop 5 comes out with a real-time 3D Editor first before Construct 3 does?! Construct 3 and their development team always sets the standard normally with advancements and features way before their competitors do! This time is a very rare occasion though :/

    Hopefully Scirra/Construct 3 can catch up soon and regain the lead in this respect.

    This Construct 3 plugin is truly impressive, remarkably convenient, and extremely powerful.

    It would be fantastic if Scirra acquired it and officially integrated it into Construct 3, allowing us to easily create high-quality 3D games.

  • I just found this on Youtube where they show off their new 3D editor for GDevelop 5.6.

    I seen that a 3D editor is in the works by another developer making a plug-in for Construct 3 for the same... But it looks like the 3D editor for Construct 3 is a ways off still according to their development log. Have a look below and see what they have for GDevelop 5.6 in this regards. This would be super cool to have for Construct 3 if the good people at Scirra have some time to make it happen for us all! Anyways, simply showing this as we really need this as well for Construct 3.
