  • Tobye - submit a new report anyway with a .capx, and I'll check it out. It's hard to tell from just a description.

  • Did you try the Browser object's 'close' action?

  • There's a bug that prevented save/load from working in CocoonJS. It should be fixed in the next build.

WebStorage is not a cache, so clearing the browser cache does not clear WebStorage.

  • It's really annoying when wrappers diverge from the standards. In this case IIRC I reviewed the features CocoonJS provides, and it simply didn't cover all the features of the User Media object. I think it couldn't take a snapshot, and when I tried it the video feed was rotated 90 degrees. Supporting two incompatible APIs with different feature sets is time consuming and a really quick way to make the code a huge unmaintainable mess. Making a separate plugin for a specific platform also defeats the write-once-run-anywhere approach. So in situations like this I prefer not to support it at all and encourage CocoonJS to support the standards. You could make a third party plugin but I think it might be missing enough features to make it useless.

  • It should work on CocoonJS (did you try it?) and node-webkit. On other platforms like HTML5 it doesn't always work, because web pages don't always have permission to close the browser window.

  • Can you share .capxs showing the performance difference? We're really pushed for time so we prefer to put off features unless there's proof it's genuinely necessary (and not some mistake in the test or something).

  • You really shouldn't do this by hand, because it's so easy to make mistakes like this and have images go missing. Source-control tools like SVN handle this automatically and are pretty excellent at doing that.

I'll see if I can write up a tutorial on using SVN with Construct 2 projects at some point.

  • It always uses the templates in the exporter file, but there are lots of them (e.g. export-fs.html when using a fullscreen-in-browser mode).

  • I've built in the Arcade's workaround in to the runtime itself for the next beta, so hopefully that will fix it. If you view the source of the iframe page in the arcade, you should be able to see it calls preventDefault() and stopPropagation() on certain scrolling keys like space, arrow keys, etc.

  • Disappearing images in the editor is a common graphics card driver bug. Make sure your drivers are up to date.

  • Regarding the OP question, the peak memory use is probably identical. However each option affects when Construct 2 loads the object images.

If objects are placed in the layout, Construct 2 will pre-load all the object's images (for all animations with Sprites) at the start of the layout.

If the object is not placed on the layout and you create it at runtime, Construct 2 probably has released the object's images to save memory. This means it has to load them the moment you create the object. This can cause pauses/stuttering at runtime.

Apart from that it should be identical. Basically, any objects you use on a layout should be placed on the layout, even if you destroy them on startup (C2 will still pre-load them).

  • OK, I think I can reproduce a problem with parameters to the Function.Call expression. As far as I can tell no other expressions are affected. Is this what you're seeing?

You should report this type of thing to the Bugs forum; I don't always have time to check every thread so I might have missed this, but I always check everything in the bugs forum.

  • Yeah, that's a bad sign, since it means your PC/laptop manufacturer has likely given you very old drivers and not bothered to update them. You can try checking from your manufacturer's website for drivers (e.g. the Dell website if it's a Dell PC), but they still might be old ones.

A format and update to Windows 7 would likely also give you better drivers too, since many graphics card vendors don't bother updating XP any more either. (And even if it's not the problem, it might fix it anyway :P)

  • Yep, the Steam version is identical to the standalone one in terms of features.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Have you tried updating your graphics card driver? That can cause problems sometimes.
