  • Warhorse - if you have an empty project which still exhibits the problem, upload it and link to it so we can take a look.

  • Try aligning the text to bottom instead of top. Or move the text object up... or remove the first line of text!

  • It looks like you're using the SocketIO plugin. Perhaps it's broken by the minification on export. Try unticking 'minify script' when exporting.

You could just use the built-in WebSocket object, which is tested and works with the minifier.

  • Nimmermehr7 - alternatively you can fix it yourself by editing the project XML data. Rename a .capx to .zip and extract the files to convert it to a folder project, then remove any of the XML tags it complains about. They will be events referring to an empty family.

We had to do this in order to fix a bug which could crash the editor, but as a side-effect there are a small minority of projects that have events referring to an empty family that need updating. Either you can fix them yourself as described above, or if you are happy to send us your project then we can do it for you. This will only ever need to be once, and then it can never happen again since we fixed the associated bug. The end result is Construct 2 is more reliable, since the new versions are less likely to crash, but unfortunately this workaround is necessary in the transition.

  • Closing as not a bug. I can't reproduce a white space beside adjacent sprites at 100% zoom, although if you zoom then a normal result in computer graphics is for a seam to appear.

Additionally, the blurry edges is a normal result in computer graphics of using 'Linear' sampling. It doesn't appear at runtime in Firefox, but you can explicitly turn it off by setting the project 'Sampling' property from 'Linear' to 'Point'.

  • Closing as not a bug, since the Wrap behavior is only designed to wrap across the layout bounds, not the viewport bounds. I could add a 'wrap to viewport' mode for a future build, but it would default to off to prevent breaking old projects that expect the behavior to wrap to the layout bounds.

  • The bar says it's available to the whole project, not unavailable. Once you've added that kind of object it's automatically available in all layouts globally, so there's no need to add another object.

  • Construct 2 automatically pauses the game (or it should do anyway) when it goes in to the background. We listen to CocoonJS's suspend and resume events and handle them accordingly. It looks like CocoonJS isn't calling the suspend and resume events appropriately, so you should probably contact Ludei about the issue.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Your first example doesn't look like it uses 3D, just a shadow, which is easily doable in Construct 2. A minimap should also be possible. Why not try the free edition and do the beginner's tutorial to get a feel for how things work?

  • What does it say in the debug console? (Touch the framerate button to open the log)

  • The particular value a shader parameter takes usually will have no effect on performance. For example the Glass shader's density can be anything, and exactly the same code runs but just with different values. Usually that means the performance is the same. (It's possible a shader will do something like loop a number of times based on a parameter, but I think most don't do that.)

The act of setting a shader parameter does incur a minor bit of extra CPU overhead. However unless you're really hammering it (e.g. setting 100 different shader parameters every frame) it probably won't be a noticable difference.

  • Yep, it's on the todo list...

  • Construct 2 is not backwards compatible with Construct Classic. We thought about it for a long time at the original launch a couple of years ago, and decided it would be better to focus on making Construct 2 as good as possible by itself, without dragging along the mistakes of Classic.

Node-Webkit is basically the standalone Google Chrome browser, allowing you to run your game as an EXE on Windows, or a Mac or Linux app. As Jase00 notes, in some cases the new HTML5 engine can outperform Classic. Further, the top feature requests we received when we were working on Classic was to support Mac, Linux and web games, since Classic only does Windows desktop, so I think C2's cross-platform abilities are a major feature and a huge improvement over what Classic can do.

  • New versions of Construct 2 automatically mute games when switching to a different tab. The problem is probably only with old games which were exported before Construct 2 did this.

  • Check the r132 release notes; your project probably has an empty family that was affected by the r132 update. Send your .capx to supportvbl@scirra.com and we can recover it.
