  • Damn it! I thought this compo ended at the end of June for some reason... ugh obviously confused it with something else (possibly a doctors appointment to see to my STI! damn cats!)

Just came up with an idea this week so wanted to enter this, and win (of course!) just so that I could stir the shit and say that I successfully bribed Ashley! AND of course I could've earned myself a free avatar! Ah well maybe next time!

Oh... good luck to all who enter. Will be interesting to see what you guys come up with.. and what the winner will come up with for their avatar.... nothing too complex please. Few lines, couple pixels, done eh?

  • By the way only 4 days until the end.

    Judges will most probably be:

    Myself - Lead Game Tester

Jeff - Level Designer on Prince of Persia / Assassin's Creed

Pascal - Game Producer of Mobile and Web Casual games

  • No Man's Land... sounds like ladies toilet

  • Thats a good idea actually haha!

Note that judges have a great sense of humor

  • Well, I forgot the deadline on this too. I originally had planned on doing a 2-player online deathmatch or collaborative shooter....but I've run out of time. There is only chatting... so the "game" pretty much blows. Spent all my time on the plugin and I'll be gone for the next two weeks.

However, since nobody else posted.. here is my entry..maybe I'll win by default!!!

    Usage is pretty basic:

    Enter port, select host server.

    For clients:

Enter port, name, IP address of server.

Chat and move around a blank game surface...fun...graphics are just the ones I love for tuts from Danc.

  • The competition ends tomorrow night, right?

  • Try Construct 3

  • Looks like, scidave, you've got your buck

  • Yeah the comp ends tomorrow night

I still have to decide if the next one starts right after this one or I wait for a week or two before starting the other one.

Note that the next comp will be shorter, like 1 week and will have a less restrictive (more creative) single rule

More details to come after this competition.

  • Bah, I've been working on my entry for the past fortnight but it's not going to be in a suitable state by the end of the day I'm going to focus on making a proper demo for it instead now though, so all is not lost! Thanks for the motivation to get it started though and sorry I didn't get to enter!

  • Yes! We now have 2 entries

Here's my entry for the compo, a basic platformer I did in 2 days(13-14 hours).

Everything you need to play is in this file:

You'll also need to download this font, since I cannot distribute it in the rar file.

-If you want to change the map/level, just open map.ini and and edit the currentMap item.

-If the game is too difficult/easy then you can change settings like the spawn rate of the monsters, the max damage they do and the target time. Target time is the time you have to survive to win.

I also managed to make this simple/crappy level editor to make custom levels.

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5811650/Void/Editor.rar

Note: The size limit of the map is 65x30, although nothing much would happen if you exceed it, the extra part will be cut off.

EDIT:Please extract the game before playing. For some reason if you play without extracting, the screen appears dark because the play menu screen doesn't fade off.

EDIT 2: Link to exe fixed.

  • I have been working on this since June 14th. I am quite happy with the results, and might continue to develop it!

You must find the exit in a randomly generated maze from hell!

Every 10 levels, something new is added, which will change the way you play slightly.

    Have fun :3

This is true for me as well. Hopefully you'll see my work stemming from this contest at a later date!

  • Nice entries! Looking forward to playing both when I get back...maybe a few more will squeeze in by the deadline. For sure, mine won't win as it isn't really a game yet.

  • That's it for the first edition of the One Buck Challenge! 1 hour late sorry, had diner for Father's day!

Me and the other judges will look at the entries and post back the result here in a couple of days. Stay tuned for the winner and details about the next competition!

Thank you all for your interest in this competition! (I always wanted to create a game dev contest )

  • If you win, and you want an avatar doing, please PM me what you want (so it'll come through my email) and we'll take it from there. Good luck!
