• Should be fun to play with Don't know if it's just mine, but the cap example crashed when it was run (I just got a huge white window and couldnt see anything and when I tried to move it, it terminated)

Also the exe example, the character was floating above the platform

I should have said this, but you need to change the path in the cap example to point to the spriter file wherever you extracted it. that shouldn't crash though, that will be fixed in a future version. also, I uploaded the wrong sprtr file, that's why he was flowing. redownloading should fix it. if you don't want to download the whole rar. here is just the sprtr file:

  • Sorry lucid I didn't even look at the event sheet, I should of seen that myself

I had to change the size of the application/layout, and I had to set the position of the character with the Spriter plugin so it was fully visible in frame but it works!

    Great stuff

  • very nice. A couple observations:

-when walking to the right the picture of the character appears very crisp while he's a bit blurry when walking to the left

-when walking the animation is lower (he sinks into the platform)

-is it possible to scale the breathing of the character because it's very exagerrated, it could be nice to berath exagerrately after moving a lot and then progressively scale the breathing down when he's idle.

  • Hi declan_gage

The animations are just demo animations.. users can create whatever animations they want with spriter...explosions, dogs, spacehips, hippos, whatever they imagine, moving however they imagine.

It would be very easy to use this breathing animation as a base, clone it and create several variations within Spriter, for several digrees of fatigue or damage.

Also, the Spriter plug in allows for complete control of the rate of playback for any animation, so you could easily make a run animation actually play faster or slower depending on the actual movement speed of the character.

This is just the beginning. :)

    Fantastic work Lucid!

  • This seems like it could be good but it currently crashes every time i use the editor.

If i load the example files (also tested with the fixed .sprtr posted later as well) every time i click on something it will crash.

If i start a new project it works better but moving the timeline bar i get a crash and the same thing after using it for a while.

The Classic example and plugin worked ok after editing it, the editor seems way too unstable at the moment however.

well, if you try it again, and pinpoint your exact steps to getting it to crash, please post to the workflowy if it's not already there. As far as general instability though. What I'm currently working on is general ui plugin. Most of the problems I've fixed so far with crashes come from the ui itself, so stability should be much improved in the next version.

These changes will also lead to a more practical and customizable ui.

I'll post an update when the changes are closer to completion, and thanks everyone for trying it out.

  • I am facing the same issue as Firelight.I could get the cap working by following your instruction, but editing the animation is difficult. So far I could successfully crash the editor everytime by trying to slide the timeline bar.

Creating a new project does makes the editor better, but if I tried to pull the timeline again after a while, it crashes.

    Otherwise, a fantastic tool!

  • ok. thanks again. I'll do my best to get this next version out before christmas. This one will feature a massive ui overhaul, and so far other than loading invalid files or files with missing images(also should not make it crash, will be fixed in future version) the plugin itself has had no stability issues reported yet. So the ui overhaul, aside from improving useability, should also solve most crashing and stability issues as well. Bear with me on this one, because it's a larger workload than most previous updates, but after this, the race to 1.0 should proceed much more smoothly and quickly.

  • Yes, it was basically just as i reported before to make it crash. When loading the project it would crash every time i went to add or move something. Starting a new project seemed more stable however and you could use some of the features however it would still crash a lot after doing certain things like moving the timeline.

The plugin seemed to work but i couldn't test it fully because i think the editor would need to work well for me to do that. The example you posted needed to be edited first but it worked and seemed stable however. Basically when i tested it i was limited to using the animations you had setup in the example.

One suggestion which i think would be useful in the plugin is a way to mirror/flip a animation without needing to use the main editor to duplicate it with another new mirrored version. I don't think there was a option to do that but it would be useful.

Currently i have removed the plugin as i can't use it but i will try the next version when it is released. It sounds as if it will fix the problems i had using the current version. Thanks

  • Hey Lucid, is the commercial version found at brashmonkey.com compatiable with this plugin for Construct Classic.

  • ...to make it crash....it would crash every time i went to add or move something...it would still crash a lot...es. stability seems to be the main complaint. here is a test exe for the new ui so far. please let me know if it works for you. once complete, the final 1.0 version of spriter will be built on this. so please test it out, and try to make it glitch up or crash, and tell me how you did it. press space bar to create a window, right click to add elements:

Hey Lucid, is the commercial version found at brashmonkey.com compatiable with this plugin for Construct Classic. we have a converter between the old and new format available. mike has the link. I'll get it from him and post it later.

  • Briefly gave the UI.exe a run and so far everything seems very stable. Did not crash in the brief moment I played with it. The only thing that seems to happen is after there's a new UI, left clicking will keep creating the same options in the UI, I guess that's normal?

    Looking forward to the update!

  • thank you yung, yes, that's the expected behavior, it's just random stuff to make sure the ui engine is working. finally integrating the ui into spriter now. thanks for your patience everyone.
