  • I have a larger project that takes a while to open.

I want to do other things while the project is opening, like often do with other game engines (Unity, Godot). But when I go back to Construct window, the opening process was paused and continues only on focus.

Is this some browser setting somewhere or am I missing something in C3 settings?

  • Have you tried saving the project not in a folder, but as a single file?

When the project is in a folder, opening and saving takes much longer due to repeated disk access.

I won’t say anything else because I haven’t had any such large projects to test.

  • Folder projects should actually be faster to open and save than single-file projects. They don't need to decompress/compress data to a ZIP, and saving can overwrite just a few changed files, rather than regenerating the entire project every time.

  • igortyhon Ashley The point is the C3 editor in lost focus mode is not loading the project in the background. Folders and single file have nothing to do with it.

Radiowaves Same here. I just open the project and go for some refreshments. Luckily SSD drive is quite fast. On HDD this can take a while...

  • I think sometimes browsers suspend pages in the background to prevent them wasting resources. It might be doing that but unintentionally also pausing any work Construct is doing. Perhaps there is a browser setting that can adjust it.

  • Don't know if this is helpful for you. I use it with Edge.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Thanks! This should work, but I am not sure what address should I use..? Is it "editor.construct.net", project path or what? "editor.construct.net" did not work.

I do use Edge browser, but C3 is run as a separate application, although it does use Edge I guess, there just isn't any address bar so I don't know what the address is.

My project is currently run as single file btw.

That is what I use and I also use it as an app.

After your post I tested it myself. It seems that this setting has no effect at all.

What I discover is that if you switch to another program with alt-tab it loads in the background sometimes, sometimes not. But what works for me, and this is the reason I thought the setting works, if your program you switch to is in window mode not fullscreen and you can see a little bit of construct in the background it loads the project in the background.

I used to open Thunderbird if I load a project in the background and that is not fullscreen. I have no clue if that works for you but it seems it works for me.
