Post screenshots of what you're working on!!

  • This has kept me (very) distracted for the last couple of months. It's a platformer (no, really!) based on a concept I cooked up with my kids a couple of years ago... It's taken me that long to put it into practice, learn C2 / game dev enough to make it feasible and for me to find time to work around my work...

    • The idea is that you will use either Keyboard or Gamepad control input (no mouse) - all implemented (much harder than I expected);
    • You can save your progress at stages as you go and different people will be able to play individually on the same computer (local storage of progress, single player);
    • There's also a rather overly-complex (for me to implement) inventory system that I'm quite proud of, for magic powers and power-ups;
    • Various creatures / boss monsters block your path;
    • Simple puzzles to solve on your way;
    • And so on....

    I haven't even given it a name, yet; the only ones I can think of are a bit rude - not sure if my target audience would appreciate my humor.... You're a bug and you're trying to rescue an imprisoned friend with the help of some rather small and supernatural entities...

    These are a few (< alpha) grabs from level 1 (of 5 planned - so far = could be more, could be less - this depends on my imagination and my patience!).

  • and now, an rpg style game

  • REDGEAR Nice! I really like the character on the first screen with 100% black eyes. The white part only appears in his eyes if he's in bright areas?

  • gillenew Oh wow that looks really cool! I've been wanting to make my next project an RPG game, so those images are a great insight into a way to go about it!

    Hey thank you LDC Studios, I confess that of a lot of work adjustment and tests in mechanics, but the results due to customization are great!

  • Progress:

    [attachment=0:3sxhvu1l][/attachment:3sxhvu1l]

  • Working on this platformer game.

  • I am building a stuff builder for rapid development of assets, it looks like this in its current state:

    It's mostly keyboard driven with one hand on WASD for movement and other on cursor keys for scaling. You adjust a grid and just spawn items to combine. Still needs some work.

  • Somebody let me try out his "stuff generator" as shown in the post above. I was able to come up with this after 15-20 minutes of playing around using only a few of the available shapes. Needless to say, it has a ton of potential!

    Build rooms for point and click games...

    Vehicles...

    Creatures, cutsceens etc. It's kinda crazy how much different stuff you can make with such few shapes.

    Title screens, icons etc.

    Non-descript sci-fi sabers anyone?

    A simple robot based on the picture on my 1 year olds pajamas.

    I made this using only circles.

    Simple image using only 3 shapes. I made this in 2 minutes. I should have added a background though because it's really hard to see the smoke.

    Edit: I wanted to note that everything above was made with an old version of Somebodys stuff generator. He's been working on improving it a great deal and I'm sure if I had access to the newer version these objects would be even better.

  • I'm currently working on a retro Gameboy-ish graphics platformer. I'll post more as I go!

    Nice consistent art style. I like that you added shrubs and trees on the sides of walls and such, really sets it in your mind that this is another dimension.

    Really like the simple combat style. I can really see that taking off with enough content to keep players hooked..
