Clickteam Fusion and Install Creator Humble Bundle

  • We had a Clickteam Fusion and Construct 2 comparison thread a while ago, and for those who would like to compare the two, but lacked the financial resources (or , what better chance than getting Fusion with the newest Humble Bundle deal.

    I still very much prefer Construct 2, though. I feel Fusion is targeting a somewhat different market. But it is certainly nice to have access to both tools - especially when you work on a Mac as well as Windows (since Fusion seems to work on Mac now).

    And a free copy of Install Creator is actually quite handy as well.

    *Edit* after investigation, this is the standard edition of Fusion: meaning a restricted distribution licence (the standard version requires that you include a "made with Fusion" logo in your work).

  • Worth it for the Install Creator alone for sure.

    I got it and took a look at Fusion 2.5 but I haven't used Clickteam tools since 2009 (when I found out about Construct Classic haha) and everything feels extremely outdated.. Still it's a great tool and does a lot of things C2 can't do very well or at all (like pixel-by-pixel collision for instance).

  • I agree, the GUI looks and feels somewhat outdated. Last time I used Multimedia Fusion was over 12 years ago - not that much has changed.

    Still, install creator is a nice bonus.

  • Looks like a good deal! I'll probably pick up the bundle for Environment Station Alpha and Oniken. I considered picking up the Game Maker bundle last time but it seemed like a waste for me, especially when none of the games interested me. I've pretty much chosen C2 as my number one main squeeze for game development, regardless if its the best choice or not. It was a monetary decision for me since it seemed like the best deal. It seemed easiest to use compared to all game maker programs too but that's probably subjective.

    I like these game design bundles Humble Bundle is doing though. I've picked up products like sprite lamp, pro motion and spriter through previous bundles. Also got a 1 year trial to Stencyl but never used it. I hope they put out other bundles in the future with great game dev software licenses. That's what I really want.

    So this "Install Creator". Would it be useful for anyone using C2?

    At least Clickteam has native mobile exporting options for their software which Construct 2 lacks.

  • If you want a free install creator Construct Classic would actually work pretty good for that.

    It has functions for accessing the registry, as well as file, and path expressions.

  • Holy Macaroni They've added the Android Exporter and Developer Upgrade at the 15$ tier. You simply can't go wrong with this bundle now.

  • As an owner of C2 business edition and (now) Fusion 2.5 Developer (thanks Humble Bundle!) I think it's worth having both.

    C2 is incredibly fast to work in (thanks to the amazing editor), but Fusion has native export (and so is incredibly fast at export, especially for lower end computers and mobile (iOS and Android included now)).

    Like others are saying Fusion's interface is pretty much the same as all their old products that I used in my childhood: Klik'N'Play, The Games Factory, Multimedia Fusion... lol, but at least they added an "Event List" view to Fusion

  • I know some people are saying they like how Fusion has native exports, but my fairly large C2 project runs pretty great on lower end desktops. Not sure about mobile though, maybe that's a big difference.

    Either way, I bought the bundle, and will probably learn a bit more about Fusion, but as of right now I just like C2's editor and interface so much more. Adjusting collisions, editing levels, handling layers just seems so much more intuitive to me. All subjective stuff though.

    The install creator alone is why I jumped on that deal, it looks fantastic.

  • Vpick any chance your project isn't a side-scrolling platformer? I have suspicions that most people who suffer poor performance are using the platforming behavior (including ourselves)....

    But yeah, the interface of C2 is so much more intuitive, but if 8-year-old-me was able to figure Clickteam products out then I think it doesn't matter that much in the end

  • I bought clickteam (standard version) a year ago on steam, and for less than 2 hours i refunded my money. Couple days ago i bought the bundle (thanks to humble) and since that day i learning the editor so badly until i am so tired today. The community on clickteam nearly to death, many question not answered and many question has old posted.

    Right now i don't have time and lot work to do, so i back to C2 because C2's editor more easy to do.

    Heh it just so happens to be a platformer! xD http://i.imgur.com/XoKwqRo.gifv The gif is only 30 fps, but the game runs at 60 consistently. We'll see how it runs when it's bigger, but so far it's about 300mb, 900 events, and a boat load of environmental assets (trees, grass, etc).

  • Vpick ahhh, is it only the single player object that uses the behavior?

    Our game ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/334190 ) has it used by most enemies as well, so the effect stacks pretty fast (and leads to missed collisions so players fall through floors, varying jump heights, and other issues when FPS drops below 60, so we have to keep the minimum specification requirements very high)

    It clocks in at about 644MB and 1935 resource files, but over half of that size is due to soundtrack and video files.

    Edit: Eisenhans Yeah, the interface needs an overhaul for them <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz">

    but, I think it's also price. C2 promises so much more for less cost than Clickteam does... and that's mainly due to their reliance on third parties (eg: Chromium, FireFox, Edge, NodeJS, Cordova, and so on) through HTML5 export, rather than needing to code a native export for each platform like most of Clickteam's exporters do.
