A cool way for kids to write and practice English Alphabets
  • As i recently bought a licence for C2 and plan to spend a lot of time with C2, i'll be collecting a few features ideas and improvements of all kinds, which, in the end, will hopefully increase the user experience and joy of use of Construct 2.

    Ashley, Tom and Animmaniac, as i don't know whom to adress my suggestions, i'll just collect them here and hope you take a peek sometimes. In addition, i'd be glad if everyone would dicuss those things in this thread, too.<img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    An option to let the user choose a color with and/or without alpha would greatly increase the speed of programming of shaders and the usability. We all would benefit of less clicks.

  • I'm not sure I understand your suggestion. Why do you need that? Why can't you write a custom shader that does that?

  • He's suggesting adding a color parameter type to shaders. Right now we only have "float" or "percent" parameters.

    Exactly. Currently, it's unnecessarily time-consuming for the coder and for the users to set/edit these values. Let's face it. The majority of the shaders we write deal with colors, so a quick access to those is really important.

    I even tried to pack RGBA values into a single float just to pass it to the shader in one parameter, but that overcomplicates the event handling for the user imho.

    To take this a step further it would be absolutey useful to pass array values to shaders (I'm thinking of gradients or kernels). Though I don't know if that's even possible... maybe comma-separated.

  • sogen - that advanced text object would be definately useful. especially if we can have css for it ;)

    R0J0hound Ashley - Well, in addition to my last post, i should clarify that it's not my intend to have a color parameter alone. The 3 vector types would be smart, too.

  • PSD import! (like the one in Adobe Flash import dialog)

  • sogen - why do you think PSD import will be of any use? i can't imagine a usecase where one really needs it. stick to PNG and everything is fine!

  • That would make a faster workflow:

    1.- Design in Photoshop,

    2.- Import grouped shapes in Construct2 as merged separate elements

    Current workflow:

    1.- Design in Photoshop,

    2.- Export every item (hide others),


    repeat TONS of times...


    100ish.- Import in Construct2

  • The possibility to select and drag/sort multiple objects at once from the projects folders would be nice. So far sorting one sprite into a subfolder at a time can be quite tedious.

  • Hi,

    My first post here and looking to make interactive picture books using construct. I wish there was a storybook template to get me started, but am working through some of the tutorials to make one from scratch.

    What would be really helpful is to import my photoshop layered files into construct and have it replicated in construct. That way I don't have to redo the whole layout manually (which could easily take hours for the whole book) and just concentrate on adding interactivity to the different storybook pages.

    I know this is a bit out of "game maker's" comfort zone but as a lot of interactive books are now being published to html5, I'm sure a lot of authors and illustrators are looking into using 2D game engines for exactly this purpose.
