  • Hello once again!

    The demo has been out for about six months at the time of writing this, with the first post of the game's development being made about 600 days ago (or a year, 7 months, and 23 days ago).

    Despite all the time that has passed between my demo and now, I haven't really been able to update my game as much. Basically, I haven't been able to do so due to college applications, high school work, and just not having or taking the time to sit down and work on my game at all. It's not to say that I haven't done anything these past months, but I could've done more had I had the time to do it.

    I know that I don't usually share personal issues like this, but I feel like it's important to share since it affects my ability to continue making my game, and because I just haven't given an update in a while.

    TLDR; i hadn't had time to make game sorry :P

    Anyways, I've completed the beach levels! Here's a screenshot of that here:

    Along with this, I'm starting to get a script for the cutscenes so that once I get all of the levels done, I can move on to creating the cutscenes and creating the bossfights that correspond to the levels/cutscenes!

    Along with this, besides the main story, I'm thinking of adding in more content:

    Side Quests

    Side Bosses

    Cosmetics

    Level Select World Map (Might be in 3D; maybe interactive)

    Ajax's House (Post-Game, Interactive)

    Difficulty Settings

    Other fun little things :D

    Of course, it isn't exactly final, since I want to focus on the main story first. Once the full game comes out, I might add new features to the game such as the ones listed above, but only assuming I have the time to do so lol.

  • Hello once again!

    Wow, it's been nearly a year since I actually started making this game. Time flies pretty quickly. I can't say for certain that I'm done with the game since progress has been really slow (due to the fact that I've got a life outside of game making lol). But now I'm here! To start off, I've finished all the levels up to level 17, meaning that so far, 4 of 6 of the biomes have been created! Here's a screenshot of the third biome, the Taiga!

    It's basically just a set of snowy levels which also introduces the dive mechanic and a new enemy variant! So far, the main two enemies of the game from around levels 2-13 are these two guys:

    One of them walks around, occasionally jumping over gaps and steps, like your typical platformer enemy. Then there's the other one that jumps non-stop! You can probably guess who does what. Also, they are in a cave because the next levels after the taiga are the cave levels! They're especially tricky because you only have two hearts instead of six.

    Prior to entering the cave levels, a boss fight occurs. After you beat it, Ajax gets really badly injured and, unfortunately, falls deep into the cave, where he has to make it out on his own without his companion or his dives and slam kicks. There's another set of animations for the ninja when he's in this injured state, but I don't want to reveal too much, so I'll show you some snapshots of what he'll look like while he's in the cave:

    And now, I can talk about a new mechanic I'd like to add to the game: Support Characters! They'll basically be characters that follow Ajax that help him out, like giving him buffs or attacking enemies! Of course, Nimo will be one of those support characters, though, due to this mechanic only being realized in the middle of creating the cave levels, he'll just assist you during boss fights and after you beat the cave levels.

    There will also be another character that helps you after you beat the cave levels, so you basically unlock support characters in platforming levels once you beat the cave levels as a reward!

    Her name is Amanda, and she's a character you first encounter in the Taiga. I won't share much about how it leads up to this point, but she eventually helps you on your journey. I've made a sketch on how it would look like once they start following you around:

    Amanda follows Ajax, similar to how Tails follows Sonic, while Nimo flies around and follows Ajax! They have different abilities so it would be a good idea to utilize them to the best of your ability.

    Anyways, that's all the updates I have. Now I can work on the next set of levels after the cave levels. I'm not sure about making an early demo, but if I do make one, it will probably have up to the Taiga levels. But until then, I hope you guys have a great day! See ya real soon, and stay awesome!

  • Hello once again! I know that this game will take quite a while to finish, but bear with me here, it'll hopefully be awesome once it releases! Right about now, half of the levels are already completed, the 14th one being worked on as of now.

    I'm also creating overlays for the different levels, including rain, snow, or fog, depending on which type of level you're in. Here's what it'll look like!

    As you can see, this is a jungle level with rain! Of course, when applicable, other levels will have their own type of overlay, which fits in well with that type of biome. Though it may be altered slightly, as it can be tricky to pinpoint where you are at times.

    Also, I'm planning on creating a way to track your overall score and let you post it on the Construct 3 leaderboard once it releases! I'm planning to use a formula that looks roughly like this to calculate the overall score

    Basically, the formula would take into account how many wins you have, the number of enemies you've killed, the number of times you've died, and how much health you have left after each level. The number of levels you've completed may also influence this score as well, should I find a way to incorporate it into the equation here without it going into the millions. lol

    Anyways, that's all for now. Stick around, because the game is getting closer to being finished. While it may be challenging to get any work done for the game as of now, I'll still try to get something in.   • On the Construct website the play counts for the games either don't update at all or they update really slowly. Even if the games have like some people playing or comments on it it still sometimes shows that the number of plays it has is just 0.

    Why is it that this happens? How could there be any likes or comments on a game when it has 0 plays? Or is it just a device issue?

  • NEW HUGE UPDATE!!!

    Hello once again everyone! I've added a cool mechanic into the game that may change the way the game is played forever! Now, you can gain an awesome power boost I like to call, Purple Frenzy!

    The way it works is that you collect these boost orbs!

    They can either be big and blue, which give two energy, or small and red, which only give one energy! Basically, you need to collect a total of 20 energy in order to activate the Purple Frenzy. Once you can activate it, the ninja jumps into the air, possibly does a flip while doing so, and turns purple!!

    The boost basically makes you intangible and increases speed and jump power for a short time frame, but I think it's pretty awesome!! :D

    And to add on, I even made a soundtrack for this feature, which you can check out right now! :D

  • Hello once again!

    I'm back with some more updates and features that'll most likely be in the final game! I've almost finished with the first levels I'm working on so pretty soon, I can make levels for a completely different biome. I've already made the song for the four levels, and it's basically a remade version of an older song I made a while ago for a game. Specifically, this one.

    Now, the song will probably sound a lot better than this song I've presented to you, though I'll share some snippets of all the songs I've made some time in the future as a little sneak peak.

    Anyways, I'm also adding some new controls to my game! I've drawn out what I plan on adding to my game below:

    I'll just go over the controls Briefly.

    Slam Kick

    The slam kick is basically a Super Mario Bros. equivalent of a ground pound. You press the "S" key and Ajax (the character you play as) dives downwards, able to hit enemies slightly farther away should he try stomping on them. Though unlike a ground pound, it doesn't stop your momentum; it just makes you fall a lot faster and gives your stomp a bigger hitbox.

    As of typing this, I've already implemented the slam kick into my game, it'll look something like this while you use it:

    Dive

    Need I say more? You get to dive around whether you're in the air or on the ground with the press of the "E" button. You can use it multiple times while airborne similar to the slam kick, so you can travel far distances.

    Buttons to open Doors

    I felt the need to add this because so far, none of the levels really have any interactive items besides power ups and the rocket, so having to press a button that opens a door could be quite a nice addition!

  • Hello Once Again Everyone!

    I'm sorry I haven't been able to post updates in a while. I had a lot of stuff I needed to take care of like classes and whatnot but I can now make an update.

    While a lot of time has passed since the last update, I've yet to finish level 7 but rest assured, I'll be able to find more time to work on the game. Though there are going to be quite a couple of easter eggs you can find within the levels (and possibly the game files if I upload them). Once I do upload my game, try looking for the little green dude relaxin!

    The green dude's name is Nimo, Nimo the Wizard! He along with the ninja (whose name is Ajax) are companions adventuring through different biomes! You can find out more about why they're adventuring through the cutscenes. Speaking of which, the cutscenes are probably going to be developed last. I'd like to work on the levels first and have them done so that I can fully invest the rest of my time in developing the cutscenes.

    And one more update: A Rocket!!!

    You can take a guess at what it does! Whoosh!!

    That's all the updates I have for now, I'll add as much more as I can despite the fact I'm limited to what I can actually add (cough cough free account...). Anyways, see ya real soon, and stay awesome!
