An array is what you are after! Are you comfortable with arrays? If not, you should read the tutorial 'arrays for beginners'.

Yes, changing the canvas size is the way to change Resolution. it's up to you to compensate for the fact that everyone will have a slightly different gameplay experience.
LittleStain C2 can use webfonts stored in the game's file system - look at the tutorial linked in the OP.
ghost yes, I mentioned this method in the OP but it seems quite redundant to convert the webfont into a TFF then back into a webfont.
