Taking the opportunity what is the better way to update a .scml file in C2, after changed it in Spriter?

It should just be a matter of dragging the scml file back into C2 after it's been changed. Making sure the scon has been resaved as well. Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • The old file I mentioned is diferent, it has a "sprite element" for each body part option

That means in the old file you were probably using a separate sprite object on each frame in Spriter, instead of switching images on one sprite. The way you're doing it now is the right way for most cases, since you want your sprite to be able to tween in Spriter, and in C2, you can use one set of events for the head, rather than separate events for each animation frame.

The latest version of the plugin and importer require the files to be saved with two save options set in Spriter. This setting will be saved, so you only have to set it once. If you resave both files and import into C2, it will work as expected. This also makes it so C2 gives the sprites a more useful initial position:

  • Hi lucid

I sent you a PM with my data.

It's not showing up in my PMs - at least not yet.

You can also send it to

  • lucid, I build a spriter character which has some options for faces, arms, torso, etc and I made some animation in which I changed the body parts, selecting it and right mouse click the other option in object menu, but when I put it in C2 it only go with the basic body parts! It is a missing feature on C2 plugin or maybe I am doing something wrong?

Yes. I think your missing the prior posts Lucid has mentioned that Ashley needs to update C2 for the plugin to fully work.

NRABrazil, if you mean that Character Maps aren't working, then jayderyu is correct. If you just mean just regular image switching in an animation, then it should be working normally. Make sure that both the scml and scon files were saved with the C2 options on upon import. If it's still not working after this, the best way for me to troubleshoot is if you can send me your Spriter project folder (scml/scon and images) in a zip, and I'll take a look.

    EDIT:

[quote:1ey2ld79]I have an old spriter file

If the file was saved with a much older version of Spriter, please try to resaving and reimporting the file.

It is working now. Thank you very much.

    Excellent. Glad it's working now.

  • plugin changelog 4/14/14

    • Fixed additional bugs that prevented the plugin from working when exported with the 'minify script' option

Please test this and let me know if there's any additional issues.

  • just tested my game with minify option and I got this error .

    Edit: Fixed - see below

  • I hope you can prioritize the minify option in the plugin.

    plugin changelog 4/14/14

  • any updates on char maps working in construct 2?

No status update yet. Ashley and I last spoke a couple of weeks ago about the importer, and we were working out specifics of how the importer and plugin should work with the latest features. Unfortunately, when I completed my part (getting the current pro featureset finished in the plugin), he was already in the middle of several other C2 things which he expected could take a few weeks. I will reply back here when I have a clearer estimate.

I can't understand why that particular image won't appear.

Do you have any idea why this is happening?

It's the 'ç' character in 'cabeçaGato'.

If you rename that object to 'cabecaGato' in Spriter and save the scml and scon again it will work when you import it into C2.

For now I would just use this workaround, but at some point I will take a look into whether there's a way I can enable the plugin to handle the expanded character set.

    Nice cat, btw.

  • excellent miu3. I will be looking into the minify thing in the coming weeks.

    EDIT:

    Spriter B7 Released!

    Official release announcement here

  • I might have a clue about this:

C2 uses Google Closure Compiler to minify scripts, so the variables and properties (with dot syntax, ex: Object.property) you use will be changed after the minify process.

Hi khanh. Thanks for the pointer. In all of the official plugins like the sprite plugin, there is a lot of dot syntax. Is there only certain circumstances where it needs to be avoided?

EDIT:ok, someone just pointed me to this: https://www.scirra.com/manual/22/runtime-overview

Somehow missed the "Google Closure Compiler compatibility" section on the first read-through. I may be able to get to this sooner than I thought. Still a few things to do before I can give an ETA though.

I can't see my animations, I uploaded the construct project and the spriter folder

The C2 plugin requires that you save the scml and scon file with two save options set in Spriter. It appears you do not have them set. The settings will be saved, so you only have to set it once:
