  • It's difficult to make any strong guarantees about hypothetical situations years in the future.

So long as people are still paying for C3, then it's perfectly economical to keep supporting it indefinitely.

If nobody is paying for C3 any more at some hypothetical point in the far off future, then presumably few people will care what happens to it, especially if there is a newer and actively supported product that can still import C3 projects.

It's also possible that some future Windows update makes C2 unusable long after its support ended - so contrary to what you imply, there is no guarantee that is going to last forever.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • As I said, the HTML5 export is not designed to work in these circumstances.

Did you try the Playable Ad export option like I suggested?

  • HTML5 exports require a web server to run, and it sounds like that context is not a web server, so it probably won't work.

It's not an officially supported platform, but you could try the Playable Ad export instead. That's designed to run as a self-contained file without the use of a web server.

  • The subscription model can be economically supported indefinitely. So we can keep supporting it as long as people are paying for it. We have no plans for any kind of retirement at this point, and any such time would be years and years away. We also have no plans for "Construct 4" at this time.

  • That's actually incorrect, it's more complicated than that.

In general you should not make events that depend on this, because you end up running down the rabbit hole of internal engine details, and if you rely on it your events will be hard to understand, break easily if changed, and possibly break if internal engine details change in future.

But if you really want to know how it works, just make a test project that has some events and see what order the events run in, like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kr4kilz4rxx4s8s/include-sequencing.c3p?dl=0

As this project demonstrates, triggers actually run in most-nested event sheet to least-nested, whereas normal events run at the point the include is reached when running events, producing a nested ordering depending on whether the events precede or follow the include.

As I said... it's probably unwise to use this though.

  • I tried it in Safari on an iPad and the video played fine.

  • That's right, it's difficult to optimise because if the shadow light was actually in the bottom-right corner of the layout while the view is in the top-left, it might still be casting shadows in to the viewport, so it has to look over a very large area.

  • Normally that means Mobile Advert is misconfigured. Be sure to follow all the steps described in the manual.

  • It looks like you have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 but it's disabled it and switched to software rendering, presumably due to some serious problem with the driver. You can try ignoring the GPU blacklist in chrome://flags, but then the browser may crash or have severe glitches due to the problem with the driver it's trying to work around. Really only NVIDIA can help you here.

  • Normally that means Mobile Advert is misconfigured. Be sure to follow all the steps described in the manual.

  • If you visit chrome://gpu, does it say anything about software rendering?

It's possible the latest graphics drivers are still broken, so Chrome is doing software rendering instead.

  • The easiest way to help is to share a minimal project that demonstrates what you're talking about, and then I can open it and take a look.
