  • Thanks, fixed in next build. For now you'll just have to avoid the 'create object' action with an array.

  • I'm not sure what to suggest - we were aware of an issue with Radeon HD cards previously which was exactly what you reported, then when we released r51.2 everyone reported it was now fixed - except you. Perhaps try completely uninstalling Construct 2 and re-downloading and re-installing r51.2 from the site?

  • Did you try previewing in 'disk' mode or running the exported files from disk? If it says file:/// in the URL bar, the flip feature doesn't work, because of browser security restrictions when running from disk. You have to upload it or preview it from within C2 in HTTP mode. Maybe that explains it?

  • iOS is kind of slow with canvases right now - apparently iOS 5 is much faster with canvas.

Also, you should reduce the window size to the size of the device window - if it's bigger you're wasting rendering time. Have a read of this tutorial.

  • Unlike the way I think Ashley is seeing it, for me it would not be a new scripting system, just a conversion of the current events to text.

That would be useful, I like the idea. However, importing the text version back to events is actually extremely complicated - matching up a line of text to an action with parameters is a very tricky and ambiguous operation. Then, I guess some people will want to use it as a scripting language anyway!

So exporting events to text is easy (even Classic does it), but importing events from text is very difficult.

  • Maybe it's one of those situations where there are pros and cons either way, and you just have to decide what's right for you! :)

  • 1. I read somewhere about a sprite sheet importing available in the build, but i cannot find it at all in the animation area. Is it a pay feature or am i blind? xD

Try right click and 'import sprite strip' in the animation frames bar - by default, the one at the bottom, showing the animation frames.

. Was looking at the animation preview bit, and i see it does not loop and i have to keep re-clicking to make it loop. Are they planning to add animation loop there?

Try selecting the animation and enabling Loop in the properties bar.

. Are you planning on adding a side scripting version of construct, or is it going to remain purely graphical?

Purely graphical. If you want to script, you can write behaviors and plugins in javascript. Apart from that, there are loads of other scripting tools out there - you can even just write a HTML5 game by scripting in javascript itself! Why pay for a tool and use a different scripting language (which might also introduce problems when converting to javascript) when javascript has excellent free tools already?

. If my level tiles are in sprite sheets, how exactly is placing tiles like a regular level editor going to work?

Using tilemaps is a little slow right now - try enabling 'snap to grid' to help for now. We're hoping to add some feature to 'paint' tiled levels in future.

. Planning on adding a suggestions topic to the Construct 2 board? I got plenty of suggestions.:P

I'd love to hear them - just post them here!

  • Ah, good find again: it turns out a negated 'mouse over object' condition actually went ahead and picked the objects the mouse was not overlapping. Because there's an offscreen object, it always picks that, and if objects are picked the event runs. That's obviously not how it should work, so now if you invert the condition it never picks anything, just returns true or false depending if the mouse is over one of the objects.

As for the disappearing object... that had me stumped for a bit... then I checked its animation frames ;)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • No, it's more likely to be to do with your graphics card and driver. Try updating your graphics driver - also, what kind of graphics card do you have? (Construct 2 should tell you in the about screen once you've opened a layout.)

  • Vicu, today the browser you use has a much bigger effect on performance than your computer. If you're using IE9, FF6 or Chrome 14+, it should be really fast. Browsers before those don't use your hardware! Which browser did you test on?

  • so what about the ability to use frames as states for mirroring?

You can if you like - it's just boring importing the same frames and mirroring them, and then you have twice as many animation frames that have to be downloaded. The auto-mirror is mainly to save on download size, really (and for convenience).

hen can i asume to be able to use the tool in the sprite import window correctly?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Is something not working?
