  • lucid is right, the new devs have been doing some work on a new release recently and we're going to try and put together an r2 release soon. We're just very busy at the moment, but I do want to get this done in the next couple of weeks.

  • Looks fine here. Can you post a screenshot of what you see? I think this is a driver issue too, have you tried updating your graphics card drivers? Also, what graphics card is it? ($5 says its Intel)

  • Hi marcinkowski, I'm not sure whats wrong from your description, can you post the broken .capx file?

  • We don't currently support layer effects but it's something we hope to in future. This doesn't mean you can't do lighting - the .capx for the lighting demo is in the examples directory installed with Construct 2, and it has two lights.

  • Construct 2 only exports HTML5 and javascript - the main editor is written in C++.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • If it changed overnight without us doing anything, then I guess it's not something in Construct 2... performance is a tricky issue, there may be something else on your computer slowing it down perhaps... hard to say what.

  • Hmm, it might be a bug... I'll look in to it.

  • Tokinsom, you're right. We do have better tile features planned though, it's just right now my todo list is endless. It's difficult to prioritise things because there are people who argue exactly like you do for other significant features like Families, and these are huge jobs, and we're a small company!

We really do urgently need to write the manual, which is one giant monolith of work. I have families next for coding because they make events so much easier, and that's big too. I can do better tile features after that. But then when do the image editor tools fit in? :-\ Hopefully you see our general situation. When I said "quite far" I meant "an awful lot further than if those features didn't exist".

  • Are you sure the array is big enough to hold all the values? Values written outside the array have no effect and retrieving a value outside the array returns zero.

  • I'm kind of confused how you're running these projects - sometimes it is intended that that message appears, because projects don't work when run from disk! So that message is correct, and if your game does not work after you press OK on that message, it's because like the warning said games don't tend to work from disk.

When running your project, check the address bar.

    • if it starts file://, expect to see that message. Your project probably will not work, and that is due to browser security limitations we can't avoid.
    • if it starts http:// it should work fine, and that message should not appear. If it does, it's a bug, please report it. But I can't tell from this post if that has happened to anyone. If it has can you tell me the URL in the browser bar that shows when the message comes up?
  • Almost all modern hardware supports non-power-of-two textures, with one exception: WebGL fully supports non-power-of-two textures, except when you tile them in the Tiled Background object, which is because it's also designed to work on mobiles which have limited GPUs.

So you can almost forget about power-of-two textures completely, it's just it'll work a bit better to have a power-of-two texture for a Tiled Background object, for WebGL only.
