  • How much of a performance boost could you measure?

I'd have thought it was negligable, since doing something like drawing a sprite probably takes 1000 times longer than the call to Round().

  • TELLES0808, WASD - what countries are you in? I'm in the UK and I just checked now and could download at a megabyte a second or more. I think our server is in the US (@Tom?) so this suggests its not necessarily our server, but could be some routers/congestion between you and our server. Not much we can do about that.

  • Can you share .capx files for each of these? It's pretty hard to comment without being able to see exactly what you've done.

  • Does 'Setting up animation events' from page 6 of 'How to make a platform game' come in handy at all?

  • arcalaus - I'm not sure what the problem is, I think you need to explain clearly what you're expecting to happen and what you actually see. WebGL only changes how the game is drawn though, and shouldn't affect the game logic at all, so it would be odd if that was the problem. If you think it's a bug in Construct 2 post it to the bugs forum (check the 'how to report bugs' thread too).

  • WASD, you're right, we add documentation as we add features to beta releases. Generally it's only a couple of weeks until beta releases turn in to stable ones, so hopefully it's not too big a problem!

  • Making your own particle effects with Sprites is a good alternative if the Particles effect does not do everything you want. Particles is more of a shortcut to quickly put together simple effects.

Particles is a little more efficient than drawing lots of sprites (it takes advantage of the fact the particles don't rotate). However we've done a lot of work optimising the renderer so using lots of sprites shouldn't be much of a problem either. Make sure you have WebGL enabled with a WebGL-compatible PC/browser and it'll probably still be fine.

BTW you could try mixing particle images by placing different particle sprays directly on top of each other.

  • If your goal is to reach as many people as possible, C2 will actually do that better with HTML5.

HTML5 games can be played on Windows, Mac, Linux, even some mobile devices... Construct Classic games only work on Windows, so you exclude Mac, Linux and mobile devices completely. So I think you'll actually reach fewer people using CC!

  • Should be fixed in the next build, thanks!

  • It's a bug - should be fixed in the next build.
