  • Does this happen all the time, even with a new empty project? Did you test Firefox? If you press 'refresh' does the game then load? Have you had a look at troubleshooting Construct 2's preview server?

  • Closing, please provide a .capx and steps to reproduce otherwise we cannot do anything about your problem.

  • sqiddster - in terms of file I/O, there are some HTML5 technologies that can effectively do that but sandboxed to a domain. Basically there are several features you'd think would be specific to node-webkit, but actually can be interoperated with a web browser in a useful way - and that makes porting much, much easier. Having platform specific plugins generally goes against the purpose of HTML5 being portable everywhere.

True Valhalla - I think you missed the point of my post - it's more about where things are going, than where they are now.

Konidias - running a game through a browser probably does need more resources, but often it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter for desktop games. One day it won't matter for mobile games. Also Apple are one of the strongest supporters of HTML5 on mobile; for a long time Safari has been the best mobile browser by miles. I think if they wanted to hold it back, they could have done a lot worse and still been better than everyone else. WebGL is technologically complex and has a few issues mainly around driver compliance, which could be a contributing factor to Apple's decision to hold off for now. We'll just have to wait and see though - I have a feeling Chrome for Android could put pressure on Apple to compete and match it for features, which might influence WebGL support.

jayderyu - I think you're behind the times. Did I mention you can already enable WebGL on Chrome Beta for Android? I think this is good evidence they intend to have it enabled by default in the stable release. BB10 and Firefox OS will be shipping with WebGL-supporting browsers too. So WebGL is already here on mobile in some ways, and it's improving.

  • Tokinsom - I'm having trouble reproducing the second issue, I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're doing from the descriptions. Could you clarify?

Ga2Z - if your issue is different to the one in the original post of this thread, please start a new thread including a .capx and steps to reproduce/observed result/expected result and so on. Issues cannot be investigated without all of this information.

  • Perhaps, but as I described in another thread, we'd prefer to design it so it interoperates nicely with ordinary web browsers, which generally will take longer.

  • We'd like to fix the original cause of this if possible so you don't need to hit 'reset dialogs' - any ideas how this happened in the first place?

  • Try Construct 3

  • How did you find that URL? It doesn't look official (it's on dev-1.net, not ludei.com). The official Ludei site hasn't announced anything yet. So I guess these may not be the final prices.

  • Does refreshing the window fix it? You've reported this only affects IE - do you have any IE plugins or addons that could be breaking the preview?

  • Try using the Browser object's 'Request fullscreen' action. FYI we dropped support for Awesomium in favour of node-webkit in the latest betas.

  • Did you check the CocoonJS error console?

It might be best to ask Ludei about this, since we can't help much more.

  • Interesting - I'll see if I can get GameCenter support in a future release.

  • There's no technical reason HTML5 apps can't access native features on a non-browser platform. Things like PhoneGap have shims to access native stuff from Javascript, Windows 8 works similarly, and the whole design of CocoonJS is forwarding JS calls to native. So not being able to use native features isn't a fundamental limitation of HTML5 - it's just a few extra technical steps are necessary.
