Monetising FAQ

In this section you will find answers to the most common questions asked about monetisation and licensing of your creations.

  1. Do you take royalties from games I make?

No. Anything you make in Construct is yours to sell and do with as you wish if you have the appropriate license.

  2. Can I make money from my games using the free edition?

No. You are strictly prohibited from making money from your creations if you are using the free edition. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Adding adverts into your games
    • Generating revenue from adverts that surround the game (EG if you upload your game to your website)
    • Selling your game anywhere and in any form

If you purchase a valid license from us, you're more than welcome to make as much money as you can!

  3. When my license expires, can I continue selling my games?

Yes. If you published your game with a properly licensed version then you decide to cancel your license, you can continue to make money from your games.

If however you need to edit or republish your games, or launch your games on new platforms you will need a valid license from us again.

  4. Can I sell lessons, courses or similar materials based on the free edition?

No, if you are monetising your materials, products or services they can only be used in conjunction with a paid version of Construct 3.
