  • Maybe I'm just too old school to hate cutscenes. When I was a kid there were no cutscenes in any game. The first game I played that had them was Ninja Gaiden on NES, and that was pretty much revolutionary. The opening scene set a nice mood for the story, and the ones in between levels were like a reward for advancing in the game.

I still see cutscenes that way. They do nothing but enhance the experience for me, and reward me for playing well enough to move on. I don't see them as a hindrance at all.

But I guess I can see how they could be taken for granted in this age of cutscene-centric games. And things like Final Fantasy with their long-ass summon scenes, or Metal Gear with 90 minute scenes don't really help matters.

    This. All of it.

I never understand people who just *skip skip skip skip* all the way through, then wonder why they think "THIS GAME WAS CRAP!" It's like putting a DVD in... pressing play.... then skipping all the way to the credits. Damn that movie was full of suck. No **** idiot.

Watch cutscenes. They make you into a man.

Hey, i?ve started a project myself, with a small team of 3 other people and we are developing a rts.

I am interested to hear what ideas you have and how, if i create the 3d models, you will implement them? If your ideas are cool, that could convince me to help you out, but the biggest limitation will be that I am not that in animating, which means, i dont really have time to spend on that.

If animation is out of the question, I won't waste your time going in to detail. If I were able to animate them myself, I would also model them myself. I understand your time is valuable, so I won't take any more of it.

Cheers for the offer though, and good luck with your project

I have a few ideas in the works right now, but trying to learn 3d has set me back a fair bit and I am sitting at a bit of a stale-mate now.

  • Grats man.

Now all you need is a job where you can get paid to sit around and do nothing, so you can continue to make games

  • I think most of us have run in to this problem at least once in our days of Constructing. I know I have... even long after I understood how layers worked... sometimes you just forget when you are making stuff and don't notice it's missing at first, then later on you sit there scratching your head trying to figure out what went wrong only to discover you messed up you layers or something.

    Common mistake, easily fixed
