  • Currently I work it out by X and Y coordinates... subtracting the objects width and height from the layout width and height, and placing via coordinates.

Some kind of visual representation would make this a lot easier, but it is still quite possible to do without it.

Nice idea though, it would certainly save some time, especially if you change graphics for any GUI items... you have to recalcuate the position every time :/

  • Construct is now listed on (near the bottom of) the first page of google results for Australia

    Climbing fast!

  • 1440x900 is also 16:10

    Actually it's 16:9 lol... 1440x768 is 16:10

    *EDIT*

Yikes nvm they are BOTH 16:10 aspects!

  • In the video you show, the Katamari doesn't "wobble" anyway... so yeah, I'd ditch the wobble idea (even though it would be more "realisitc" to have the wobble) and go with a simple circle that gets larger with each added object.

This would also stop problems from arising, like if your "oval" gets too much oval shaped, it may not want to roll properly. If it is a circle, it will always roll.

  • Sometimes I like to make custom movement for things that would otherwise work perfectly with a behaviour... usually because it's fun xD

  • I've had to use the minimum framerate approach for tonks in order to keep the physics from falling apart on slower machines. Deadeye helped me test it out, and now physics works uniform on any framerate, whereas before on lower FPS machines, it would do weird stuff.

I'm thinking his method would do exactly what you are looking to achieve.

Also, if you want to find out what it will do ona faster machine, send me your CAP, and ill turn fram limit off and run it on mine... FRAPS it, and return the results.

  • Downloaded it. Played it.

Not bad, not great... to be honest the game IS a bit boring...

Also, not sure if this is meant to happen but... I got about 8-10 spheres on the screen, and I was nuging them around to make a nice pyramid... for ages there were only those spheres and no others... next thing I know, spheres start raining down from above and fill up the entire screen in about 10 seconds, causing a game over and score of 144 :/

Persinally I think this game would be awesome if:

    (1) Spheres fell at a constant and steady rate

    (2) You made scores by nudging 3 or more of the same colours together

    (3) you could nudge on an angle, rather than directly sideway, or up only... it makes it hard to nudge things up and across at the same time.

Other than that, it's got really nice graphics

Game has promise, but needs a little more in the gameplay department to be a real seller.

  • are you going to teach her construct?

    Lol xD

  • Belated happy zeroeth birthday to everyone involved!

Seriously, congratulations to wife-and-you, and a long and happy life to the Spawn of SoldjahBoy. Enjoy these early days (sleep is overrated anyway ) -- do you get any kind of paternity leave?

    Thanks, I think lol xD

I run my own business, so I can take off whatever days/times I want really... which is good

  • is 1280 x 600 a real resolution? doesn't seem like its the right ratio. Wouldn't it be 1280 x 800 instead?

    Yes. It's a 16:10 ratio.

  • Or you could have an invisible sprite with a behavior which the canvas is always positioned to.

    This.

Not only can you do X and Y coorinates, but also angle... wow!

  • It would probably be easier to make your character entitrely out of hinged physics objects, and apply forces via some fancy inverse kinematic solver to make it walk and stuff.... or not O.o

  • 1024x768 is pretty much the standard these days, and has been for around the last 5 years.

I would suggest, if you were to make different resolution support, to simply go for 800x600 or 1024x768 as your 4:3 aspect resoltion, and then do one in 1280x600 or 1440x768 for widescreen.

Anyone who buys a new monitor these days, and gets correct advice from the place/person they buy it from, will be running 1680x1050 at least since most modern screens run this or higher as the naitive monitor resolution. Running a newer screen in anything less casues moire issues and makes the screen look like it has very poor picture quality.

  • Newt had a totally sick looking concept he was passing around the chat... I wonder what happened to that one?

I may still have a crack at this, but with new baby and everything coming home it's going to be hard to find any real time for it.

So far, I like Quazi's design the most out of them all... it's just so shiny! And the new Construct logo design he has come up with looks awesome as hell.

  • Now my game is not started at all! Writes: an unexpected error occurred and the application was terminated. You may be to find out more information about the crash by Debugging, and attempting to reproduce the bug.

Post your cap and someone, either myself or someone else will have a look at it for you.
