  • ahh, I see. Ok thanks for the tip. I will give it a go and see how that works :D

  • Thanks guys!

Hm... it's strange though because I get a lot of deaths due to the detection not feeling 'correct.' I will continue to play around with the code.

GenkiGenga how would I set up markers and things like that from what you were suggesting? Would I use the pin function?

  • Lost oxide and deluso look excellent. I remember playing you ludum dare version of lost oxide it was one of the games that inspired me to really look into developing something with construct 2. You should post some screenshots of your game in this thread so people can see.

It reminds me of limbo crossed with Yokai which is a great thing. Keep up the great work and keep us updated!

  • I have been scratching my head trying to figure out why i cannot get the detection to work properly with this particular enemy. Its a slime that has platform movement, all it does is walk back and forth.

    here's the problem:

Whenever you properly jump on him sometimes, you get hit anyways when really you are supposed to have killed it.

These are the guys causing the problem:

Here's my crappy coding. I'm sure there's a lot better way but I'm still learning. But this is what i have set up for his collision

Here's also a link to a build of Super Ubi Land that I created just to get help on this issue. It's only one level unlocked and it has a couple of the enemies that I am talking about. play around and you'll notice how annoying those slime things are because of the bad set up for collision.

    Game Build

    Can someone please help?

    Thanks in advance! <img src="smileys/smiley31.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • Try Construct 3

  • Thanks guys!

10 bucks for all platforms would be cool. I wouldn't know how to go about doing that tho :(

I'm thinking of going with $10 for the price of the game and 4.99 for the alpha funding price. I'm just going to have to make sure people feel it's worth it. Wish me luck!

I'd like to see more Construct 2 games on Desura!

  • XD

the concept is funny. I started dying once I saw the animation of the bears eating the little guys

  • They are using

    Windows Vista 32 bit

    Im personally using

    Windows 7 64 bit

and it works fine for me

  • OK changed Ubi's running speed (which makes the game feel a lot more insane). I did a speed run of Level 3 so let me know what you think of the way this feels over the original speed.

And here is a sound test for the jumping and landing AND it features a look at the new Desert World (with the old speed)

  • Thanks Zenox98

It would suck to have to tell people to run the exe as administrator :/

but if that's what I have to do...

  • I'll get the specs from the guys but I think most of them are pretty up to date OS wise.

As far as having all of the required files, I zipped everything that was exported to my project folder and sent it off.

I'm just wondering so I can publish my Alpha Funding Page on Desura and make sure people can download the exe and actually run it.

  • Whenever I export an exe, it works just fine for my PC but anyone on their own computers that I send my game to for testing will not open.

It says Awesomium encountered a problem and needs to close.

Is there something I'm doing wrong when exporting?

  • Thanks SullyTheStrange!

Yea it's something that bothers me. I'm putting in a ton of work on the game and it's still far from finished. $0.99 and $1.99 isn't the pricing I'm looking forward to selling the game at. I'm aiming more towards the $9.99 price point but like you said, it's a delicate issue. *Sigh.

I'm thinking of setting the Alpha Funding price to $5.00

  • I've been approved on Desura for Alpha Funding! I haven't finalized and published the game just yet because I am thinking of creating a video showing gameplay, footage of myself working on the game and speaking to the gamers about what the game is about and how they can help me mold it into something great! I'm really trying to take it out of the mario style mold and turn it into it's own game. I've made a lot of changes in the game but I am glad Desura gave me a chance to use their platform for Alpha Funding.

One of my questions that I'm asking my fellow Scirra game devs is how much should I set the price of the game at? And what should I discount the Alpha Funding (early adopters) price to?

The game is planned to have over 35 levels across 5 worlds with bosses and mini games and tons of collectables, unlockable characters and a full soundtrack with over 20 tracks.

    Thanks for your advice.

    *Updated Title Screen

    <img src="http://datboidrew.com/blog/wp-content/gallery/super-ubi-land-screenshots/sul_screenshot_91220012_d.jpg" border="0" />

*I've removed all of the ? cards. Replaced with a space capsule type item.

*An update of what the first level looks like. If you've played the mini demo in the Scirra Arcade you can notice the difference.

*A falling style level where you use your balloon to float and avoid enemies/obstacles.

  • I figured doing something like this in the game industry would be pointless because all of the work already involved in coding a game in the first place. Tracing a drawing... yea I can see someone copying another person's illustration(s) but a game!? Learn something new everyday...

  • I was receiving flamers downvoting Super Ubi Land because it's based around the mario platforming style (Which IS the point of the game!).

I personally don't mind constructive criticism but a lot of these guys just get on here to bash people's games. I'm fine and completely understand if it's nothing you'd be interested in but why do they have to be so vocal about things that don't interest them all of the time? It gets to a point to where it just becomes downright rude
