• Hi all,

this is just a general question that I can't seam to find a conclusive answer to.

I was under the impression that every layout had to have the objects it will be using, so in my project each layout has a hidden AssetsLayer for this purpose - no problems.

However I have decided to add a particle object to my game and was about to go through and add this object to each layout - again no problem.

So I tested this new particle object on the first layout to get the settings happening to my liking and I just thought I would see what happens on a layout that doesn't have the object added yet - and it works!

So this has prompted this topic.

While I am more than happy to add the object to each layout if I have to, the project has 40 levels so I'm just wondering if I do need to do it.

Thanks for any input...

• Ashley, I have spent all day creating\importing sounds in C2 and it seams short files were the problem.

I have been padding all files with silence so they are at least 00;00:001 in length and they all import correctly.

Thanks everyone for help and tips.

• Good morning Ashley,

Thanks for the reply and tip.

The above mentioned file was 00:00:00 in lenght, I added some padding to make it 00:00:01 in lenght and it imported successfully.

I will keep that in mind and post back here later when I have completed a few more imports.

So it's true - you learn something new every day!

FYI: Free Audio Converter converts all the files to OGG and AAC without any problems.

Thanks for your help.

That is exacrly the problem I am having. But the issue is not just with one particular file, but with almost every file I edit\create.

I have used a number of apps besides Audacity and the result is the same, so it is not Audacity.

The files are originally MP3 files I have recorded, then cleaned and trimmed, and saved as 16-Bit PCM 44100hz Wav files.

The weird thing is, if I convert the original files to Wav using Free Audio Conveter they import into C2 as expected.

But if I edit them, then C2 either freezes(almost every time), does not create the OGG file, or says the format is not recognised, when trying to import them.

At present it is looking like I will be unable to create my own audio files, which makes including credits for other peoples work a nightmare.

• Ashley, format is 44100hz 16-bit PCM only 9kb in size.

• Well spoke too soon!

Works sometimes, but have to drop hz to 8000 (looses much clarity of original file), and then it is hit and miss if C2 converts it successfully.

• Yes looks like hz is the culprit.

Thanks for the reply newt.

Many thanks

• Hi all,

Just about every Wav file I create using Audacity causes C2 to hang when importing them. The progress bar comes up completes the process and then just hangs - Task Manager has to be used to end C2.

So wondering about any other programs that are out there...

• Hi. I would definitely recommend persevering.

All software have bugs of varying degrees, some times caused by the developer sometimes caused by third party components. For example VS is very capable tool, but many of it's own controls (developed by MS them selves) have bugs.

The difference I think here is that MS will take forever (if ever) to correct the bugs even if it is bought to their attention. On the other hand Scirra release regular updates, and if they find the cause of any bugs they will be corrected promptly.

C2 is a very capable tool, and any buggy behaviour is well worth the trouble IMO.

• Yeah, for me C2 crashes occasionally while using it, and without fail whenever I have been using Photoshop at the same time and close C2 it will definitely crash.

I am running latest version of C2 on Win8 Pro machine, and if C2 crashes, when I shut down the OS it hangs for a bit then brings up a message about a 'Place Holder Window' still being open and gives the option to force the shut down or go back and close the 'Place Holder' window. (This 'Place Holder' window thing only comes up when I have been using C2, and I have been using Win8 and Photoshop since the consumer preview.)

Anyway if I opt to go and close the window - there is no 'Place Holder' window to be found - and Task Manager shows nothing running.

I have had this problem since I came on board (Dec 2012), but C2 is such a cool tool I just expect it and work around it. I have been looking out for specific things that cause it but it pretty random - except when using graphics intensive software at the same time.

My guess is it is graphics related, since it always happens when using Photoshop, but randomly if I'm not....

Thanks for the input, I will keep that in mind...

Thanks for the reply...

I thought as much, I just began to wonder about it because an .capx I checked out from the forums had in included Event Sheet, but it had been moved below all the other events.

Regards...

• Hi all,

So I have been reading as many posts as possible with regard to the inclusion of Event Sheets in another event sheet. The one thing I have been unable to find any info on is where they should be placed. By default when you include an Event Sheet it is placed at the top.

So what I would like clarified is:

• Is it correct to leave them at the top
• Should they be moved to another part of the current sheet
• Does it really matter at all

Thanks for your time...

• Hi,

You can login on the scirra site, click your profile name (top right), select Your Purchases from the drop down menu, and download it again.

Hope this helps...

• thehen,

thanks for the offer, as soon as I get something worth trying I will take you up on that. Should I send .capx or the win8 export?

Thanks for your help.
