  • Eventually we want to support WebGL in C2 (there's a lot of other stuff to do first though, so it probably won't be soon). WebGL will allow browser games to equal Classic in terms of graphics: shaders, 3D, the works - and it will run everywhere! Everywhere, except on Internet Explorer, which shows no sign of supporting WebGL, probably simply because it's a threat to DirectX. For IE, you'll still be able to use a canvas fallback.

    It's a tricky thing to advise, but in the long term (say, 1 year) C2 should be a better option - you should then have all the graphical effects, and all the platforms (except IE, with Canvas fallback). On the other hand, it could be longer, and in the meanwhile Classic is working OK. So it depends how long you're willing to wait.

  • Yeah, sorry, I read the PM. I never got round to replying just because we're knee deep in work, endless todo lists, etc. You're basically right though, tile maps are important and we need to do them.

  • I don't think Unity have anything like events - it was some kind of flowchart-coding plugin they had. But they tried to push it as a non-programming solution.

  • Also, is there any way to directly inject JS through a plugin? As in the user defines a JS script to be executed as an event.

    Yes, through the eval() function, but if done incorrectly this can open up security vulnerabilities, and might not survive the minifier. So I don't think you should do this.

  • You can write your own shader effects in Classic using HLSL in .fx files. This way you can make effects that do whatever you want. Is that what you're asking for? I don't see why what you're saying can't already be done.

  • Oh, just a heads up: there are some SDK changes in r51, and the docs are written as if those have already been made. Next build should be out soon then these docs are current.

    Old thread is below for archiving's sake. This post content is now out of date - the above link is now the latest version of the SDK documentation.

    ===================

    Plugins and behaviors can be written for Construct 2 in Javascript. Since there's been some plugin work already - and I myself keep forgetting how it works - I've been writing up some documentation for the SDK.

    Also, user Kyatric has kindly compiled a HTML version of the SDK documentation viewable online.

    This is currently some very lo-fi text files, but the content is there. There are also templates to help get you started with a plugin or behavior. In future, it'll all be hosted on the site, linked up, and so on.

  • I like lucid's all-green theme better than the all-blue one. Right now the site is mainly green, but with bits of blue.

    That's my main worry about the blue one - it's good, but it does look very corporate and serious. The blue one seems very "technical documentation for Microsoft Office", whereas green is more fun and lively.

    I'm still being outvoted though :)

  • Have you tried pixel shaders in Construct Classic? Is that what you mean?

  • Heh I tried to persuade Tom to leave it green, looks like it'll end up blue then! :)

  • Try Construct 3

  • It does read like spam if you just post a one-line "go here and spend money". Perhaps you should describe why people should hand over their hard earnt money on this particular site, maybe something like free samples demonstrating the quality of the work?
